The Matrix MMORPG..? It actually sounds like a good idea until you think a lot into it... Although I hope I'm wrong and this is done really well.
That would be a treat.

Whoa! Why wasn't THAT their explosive announcement?
It's probably because so many developers are doing things for d/s and only one (as far as I know) is doing the Matrix MMORPG.

Sonic DS?! That would be cool. But I'm actually a bit disappointed that the DS and PSP are gonna be in 3D. I see handhelds consoles as 2D machines. And the while 3D graphics improve they get more realistc, 2D graphics improvement makes it closer to looking like a cartoon. When I saw Metroid Fusion cutscenes, it looked really nicely animated. And I wondered how much better it would look if it were 64-bit. 64-bit 2D would give fantastic animation sprites.

The DS is a new console from Nintendo... It's handheld, but not a gameboy. It's graphics capabilities are somewhere between a Nintendo64 and a Gamecube.
And it has two screens.
Pritty nifty, eh?

(PS. In case you're wondering, DS apparently stands for 'Dual Screen')

I actually heard that the SP was supposed to be some kind of prototype of the DS.

Erm... how old is this thread now?
On topic, I can't see Sega releasing a new console unless Sony and/or Microsoft pull out of the business.

And I don't think Sega has ever had a Sonic launch title, apart from on the Dreamcast. The Saturn didn't have an original Sonic titles for years. For better or worse, Sega never used Sonic in the same way Nintendo used Mario. I guess Nintendo had the kids' market cornered, and Sega felt that if they made their mascot character too prominent, they wouldn't be able to take charge of the teenagers and above games market. Or something.
