One of my fave games!! Im wondering if anyone else has any thoughts or feelings towards this saga? I for one love it, although all the talking sometimes gets on my nerves!! The plot is terribly confusing, so in a way you have to play it through a few times (or watch the Dark Chronicle if ur playin one of the PS2 games) to fully understand it, but its an amazing storyline with an intricate history and cast. Any thoughts? ;D

Well, I bought the first one and quickly got bored with it. I couldn't figure out where to go -- everything is totally NOT signposted in that game.
That said, I did enjoy the characters and the story of it all, and Raziel is one of the coolest game characters ever. ;D

yes, they are such big games, its pretty easy to get lost. Usually theres a guy somewhere to tell you where to go, or who to meet. For example, in Soul Reaver 1, you can go to Aerial, the weird, scooby-stylee ghost for help. The later games are also much more clear as to where u need to go, but I found that I had to retrace my steps a lot.

Defiance is quite possibly one of my favourite games ever. *drools*
I now have the entire series except for the original Legacy of Kain. It seems impossible to get a hold of.

Me too!! Id been waiting to play as evolved Kain for ages! ;D His levels are quite short compared to Raziel's tho. I guess he must be the designers fave! hmm, Blood Omen is not that old, but Ive never seen it anywhere, apart from Ebay. My stepdad said he once had it and sold it coz he said it wasnt very good. I guess Im not missing much, the first Soul reaver is very easy to find and it where the story really begins!! ;D (Blood Omen 2 is kinda tied in with Soul Reaver 2, its very confusing with the time line and using the same characters!!)

I have played this game, great fun - though, when it's come to the game play, I think I prefer Soul Reaver 2. Defiance was fun, but Soul Reaver 2 was great. ^_^
The storyline is excellent - I wanted to cry for Raziel at the end of Defiance - but there was a marvelous twist!
Haven't managed to play the Blood Omen games... but I'm aware of some of their storyline.

This is probably one of the best games ever and it doesn't have that hard to fallow plot (though I didn't have to read about it in many fan websites) put definitely one of my favs can't wait for the 6th one to come out

wha?? Fan sites?! I did not know there was some...duhh! Please supply me with a link! *offers cookie* Im wondering what the next ones gonna be like, and if Raziel will make some kind of weird return in a different form or sumthin? Maybe he'll come out of the sword to attack things when Kain gets low on energy or really enraged! Like in Soul Reaver 2 when it attacks ppl and gets to a dangerous level. ;D

W00T to the one they call Soul Reaver! When I had a lowly PSOne, this was all I would ever play and if I had still had it, I'd spend a lot less time on here. Anyone seen The Grudge at the cinema? Because the way Raziel would just open his scarf and reveal his missing jaw just reminds me of that and it looks So Freaking Awesome! And the way he just sucks out the souls of the dead is a great way to retrieve health too ;D. The back story's simple yet very effective. In a large species of vampires, each one would evolve after time and gain a special attribute. Raziel gained wings. But Kain didn't like this because he was the big boss man and he didn't have any. So he chucked him in a big abyss of acid. . Gameplay's awesome too! Even if I did find myself stuck (often!), I'd just go find some more demons and smack the hell out of them! . The ways to kill are amazing. With an elegant spear, a random stake, a flaming torch, one of the 7 magic powers or the SOUL REAVER! The Ultimate Weapon of the game. . Seriously kicks demon ass! So yeah, I've rambled a bit. But I loved that game so much and I want it back now ~Scott

awww, my old threads been resurrected! How ironic!! (A phrase often used in the LoK series!! hee hee) When I wrote that I hadnt yet completed it, and now I see what u mean by wanting to cry for poor old Raz... poor guy, he deserved better than that! Besides, hes much better to play as than Kain....although Kain is the superior character. Im defo looking forward to the next instalment...Playing as Kain with the fully fledged Reaver!! raaa!!! Methinks theyll bring back Raziel somehow tho...either you play as him as a vampire (which would be excellent! I think in the opening sequence SR1, Raziel looks like Trent Reznor!! But I dont want to start getting impure thoughts about a decaying old demon...ugh! lol!)...or...you can do freaky stuff with the Reaver that allows Raz to escape every now and then...thatd be sweet! Anyways, Im so confused with the storyline, it needs a final explanation now that ties it all together!
