... and could do what you wanted (need to read thread title Ok this is what I would do for a new multi format sonic game. I would basically recode all past sonic games (yes even the bad ones, actually there not bad, just need improving on) up to the last one before SA as they should all fit on 1/2 DVDs. I would divide the games by console so that you select a console which brings up a list of available games you the select the game and the rest is history. I would call it something like Sonic: Chronicles If such a game was released, would anyone one on here buy it. Also would anyone ever consider doing a petition or some other form of campaigning for this sort of game? I want to here your ideas people!!

Right (holds head in hands sobs for a few minutes, then start formulating revenge plans).
Well can everyone put their ideas forward anyway because I'm interested in what people would do.

I want metalix to return somehow, I feel that people were a bit cheated out of a big fight with him on the mega cd, hence why we got that metalix mk 2 thing in S&K.
but something I would do is add more badniks to the zones, in sa you can be forgiven for thinking the only badniks are those blue flying things.

There has been a substantial degree of misconception and misinformation concerning Sega's recetn restructuring announcements, so I suppose I should clarify any confusions by explaining what precisely is transpiring to the Sonic Team.
The Sonic Team is expressly not being disbanded, dissolved, or dispersed, but its management is simply being engaged in a process of reintegration back into the major company - staff are not being transferred or rearranged (although a swathe of redundancies throughout the entirety of Sega is, regrettably, expected) and the Sonic Team logo shall still remain in public use. Recall that after the Saturn was discontinued, Sega 'decentralised' its A.M. departments into pseudo-independent development houses - SmileBit, Overworks, Wave Master, Sega Rosso, Hitmaker!, WOW Entertainment, and so forth - which essentially gave them a large remit of liberty to devise their own projects, although an 'overlord' Sega continued to co-ordinate general company strategy. The 'reintegration' of the Sonic Team means no more than the fact that more of its strategy will be decided by Sega's executives rather than Sonic Team's project leaders.
Now, this isn't a dire occasion that will suffocate creative talent at the Sonic Team - recall that Sonic the Hedgehog I, III, III and Sonic and Knuckles were all created when the Sonic Team didn't even officially exist - it only became a 'distinct' body with the publication of NiGHTS into Dreams... in 1996! And even then 'independence' is something of a misnomer - there has never been any doubt that all of the Dreamcast-epoch development houses are part of Sega.
In brief - don't panic!

Oh right thanks for clarifying that I feel a bit better now.
Remember my original idea of having all the retro games on a disc(s) well I would have them brought up to 60 Hz so we don't have to re familiarise ourselves with the borders at the top and bottom of te screen

I'd stop this rubbish 3D malarkey immediately and make the first decent Sonic game since the Megadrive days. Pure crisp 2D, a crisper version of the Sonic 2 sprite (classic shoes, no green eyes and shorter) with very smooth but not over-the-top animation (keep it simple). Go all out on the level design front but keep it classic Sonic at heart, none of the characters introduced for the 3D games (sorry, no Shadow...) and no cutscenes with speech (or text), and they'd be like the Sonic CD intro and ending and used very sparingly. Lots of levels, traditional starposts (not the absolutely rubbish 3D checkpoints...) and make it feel like you're really exploring a place like the Megadrive games did. No character team up crap, or any gimmick, just a brilliantly fun, playable, huge adventure with a classic feel. (Oh, and whoever did the megadrive games' music would return, none of this insufferable Hasselhoff-style cheesy rock.... just fun tunes that are unbelievably catchy (Lava Reef anyone? Icecap Zone?)). In my opinion that'd be the perfect Sonic game, back to his roots without overusing modern technology for the sake of it.

You make some good points there Zak29. But I disagree with the idea of getting rid of 3D. But you are right about putting the classic music back in. They should reintroduce the 9:59:59 auto death too, now that was something that got the adenaline going

Make a sonic RPG,
it could work, different style of gameplay and no matter what people say I think we have to accept that sonic is never going to return to the 2d (accept for gameboy advance) you go around mobious with a set goal and the random fights are badniks. boss battles are either monsters or robotniks machines.

Ok heres Retros pointers on a Sonic game to be.
1) A unique mix of 2D and 3D depending on area, hard to achieve but could be great if done properly.
2) A huge sound of a Sonic BOOM when you cross the speed of sound.
3) A speedometer.
4) Dust clouds behind your racing character.
5) A mixture of single and team based levels. (Optional team or single on each level for time trial)
6) A Metal vs Sonic REAL battle, no big monsters, no rock music, just good old music (mabye zone hopping it rocked) in a huge area with impact dust clouds. (We need this after being cheated out)
7) Reduction in characters, personally I would drop Team Dark for now, return later, mabye, also drop Super for a game. Chaotix drop as well for a little while. As well as Cream and Big...oh heck everyone but the main storyline characters! *bundled by Team Dark network members*
8) Have boss battles at the end of each act (yes reintroduce acts) and make sure they are good Buttnik ones.
9) Make a really cool original plot.
10) Use a more Retro style art.
Just my opinion on ideas....comments and criticism please.

It is quite interesting that you said that since someone on the offical PS2 forums, he had thought it all out and everything and gave all the characters moves and stroylines. it was quite an interesting read (if not very boring in places).
Edit @retro, get rid of the Chaotix?? You have insulted my honour! *Draws Katana*

Yeh that is something I liked about the old games, the whole acts thing. The speedo I think should only appear as you approach the speed barrier. I think dark should stay in but using you're idea of splitting team and individual acts. Cream and Big should be resigned to cameos only unforetunately.
Ninja Sin do you have a link to that site?

- Take Heroes back to development stage, and polish it up properly. Offer free exchanges of this new version to anyone who bought the original.
- Start up a movement to get everyone on the planet to play NiGHTS. Sure way to get world peace, mark m'words.
- Make a Burning Rangers 2.
- Slap all the as-yet-un-retro-packed Sonics onto a retro pack.
