Who else here is sick of seeing the Sims everywhere?! lol! When I first got it I was playing "life" for hours! It makes you forget your own! lol! Anyways, with adverts around for the new "improved" PS2 sequel coming out soon, what does everyone think of it? Are there far too many "addons", etc?

I loved the first sims and then got the first expansion but then I lose appeal so quickly, I aint getting sims 2 nor any ps2 versions, however there is a way to take advantage of the sims games to the extreme.
Buy the sims (no added stuff just the normal game)
then buy any expansion pack and instal.
then once its on take it back to the store and exchange it for one of the other expansion packs taking advantage of the 10 day return offer. then chose another expansion pack.
return home and instal.
you can now play the sims using you new expansion pack you dont need the other expansion pack (the first one you installed) to play with the new stuff.
once its installed repeat the above process until you have them all.
because of a very stupid code fault on EA's part if you got the expansion packs in reverse order you can use the livin it up expansion pack to play with the pets and vacation features.
so you buy the sims game, and then 1 expansion pack, then by taking it back and exchanging it for anothr pack you are only spending for 1 game and 1 expansion pack but getting all the sims expansion packs!
and its completely legal!

One problemo: if you have a probelmo with your hard drive or the game currupts you are knackered.

can be done at Game and in fact most shops apply a 3-10 day policy,
Anyway if your harddrive does go chances are you wont play the sims again because it can get old fast, anyway how much is a new expansion disk anyway now the sims 2 is out? not much so your still saving money even if you did it all again.

i don't mind the sims but I just really love weird games like this. I have the Gamecube version of the game and thats fab - I sometimes find myself spending like 8 hours straight playing it - really no life - no wonder I have no gf - lol. but I must admitt it seems a bit out of order for them to create so many add-ons - just seems like they want to rip the consumer off as much as possible. why not just put them all into one larger game. I have and enjoyed some of the Sims for the PC. I have and enjoyed the GBA version. The Gamecube Bustin' Out sucked majorly. I can't even try The Sims 2 because MY COMPUTER ISN'T POWERFUL ENOUGH.
Plus I don't have a working CD-ROM drive. Huzzah, lol.

lol - my old computer's d-drive is stuck with Championship Manager 3 in it - very annoyed. Busting Out is a load of rubbish and such a waste of money Rob

If your going for consol based sims I'd wait a couple of months till a game called "Urbz: Sims in the city" comes out on all systems, looks quite good

Yeah, don't go for any home console ones. I found the GBA one to be good, but the GameCube one was a real drag to control.

i used to love the sims. then after I had bought the first 4 expasion packs, I said "stuff this. there's no way i'm paying another £20 a month with the rate maxis are chucking out expansions" and so I stopped playing.
i bought the sims2 on it's release date and so far, I am very impressed. My charcter has finally married and has a daughter, who is a straight A+ student. ;D He has a successful job in the criminal career track and the best thig is that as he's leaving in the morning, he points or waves to any sim in the viciity, without breaking stride. It just goes to show how much energy maxis put into making the interaction and animations as realistic as possible.
buy it for the eye candy if nothing else.

The first Sims game was addictive, but it wasn't that good when you actually sit down and take a look at it.
But the Sims 2 is a whole lot better than the original one. Lots more to do and try out, this is one hell of a game.
