So i'm sure wipEout's a name some of you are familiar with, it was responsible for bringing gaming to mature audiences, chocca with underground dance sounds and played on big screens in clubs everywhere after its release. It played and will hepofully continue playing a very important role for Sony and their Playstation machines in maintaining their 'cool' image.
Now, I love the games, primarily the PS ones, but i'm wondering if there are any others wipers herein still playing the most stylish games ever made. To get you into the wipEout spirit or to give those who don't know about it an idea of what i'm talking about, here's a little video of what it's all about, recorded from WipEout 2097/XL: www.trifocus.net/~foxzero/TTXLPP.mpg (right click, save as.)
And now, onto news of the new instalment. A new wipEout is in the works for the PSP, word is that it's mostly finished, should be ready for the UK PSP release date. The music is still being decided upon, though CoLD SToRAGE (Tim Wright), the guy who did the inhouse music for wipEout and Wipeout 2097 looks like a strong candidate for doing it again for 'Wipeout Pure'. Here's a video showing how it looked back at E3: media.psp.ign.com/media/682/682962/vids_1.html?fromint=1. The craft designs look like they're of the Wip3out/2097 era (thank god for no more Fusion styled ships!) and it all looks very cool for a handheld game. Only question is, can the PSP take the beating any true WipEout should take? Let's hope so
Peace, Wipers. Let's be friends!
