Not too much flaming there....
I care not for the story. I played Deadly Alliance, all excited about there being a new Mortal Kombat and find that it plays nothing like any of the others did. What ever happened to just having high and low kick, high and low punch? Now you have 3 fighting styles per character and what not. The story matters not to me.
And I don't think me joking about thinking my opinions are law warrants being called an asshole, thank you very much. Tekken; you get a force mode... and what exactly? Tekken Ball, Tekken Bowl, Tekken: Devil Within, Tag Mode, Survival Mode, Time Attack Mode.
I'm not bashing it for evolving, I'm bashing it for being a completely different game. The controls were completely new and fresh in Deadly Alliance, which meant that someone into the old games would have to learn all over again. Tekken never did that. And why is this a Tekken Vs. MK battle?
As far as fighting games go, MK and Tekken are two very diferent ones. Other 3D ones, like Dead Or Alive are more similar to Tekken. MK was more similar to Street Fighter, in some respects. MK had some great 2D titles, but the 3D ones didn't really do it for me. I prefer MK2 to every Tekken game there is, but I just don't like the later games. That doesn't make me an asshole.

Nooo, Nightwolf and Kabal were great! And I like the concept of Ermac, although he's a bit lame in UMK3. Like Margaret Thatcher, he refers to himself in the first person plural in MK:D, because he's actually a collection of souls. I actually thought it was quite clever how they turned a glitch into a character (like they did with Reptile, except he wasn't a glitch, just a secret character), I mean his name (ERror MACro) is a joke ffs! And knocking around in one of the games (MK2?) is 'Camre seod ton tsixe'. Of the more recent characters, Kenji, Tanya and Nitara are pretty cool. And I like the fact that Rain is supposed to be an obscure reference to Prince. IMO, Kai in MK4 was the lamest character.

It's all about the bike pump of death. The new Mortal Kombat game (MK Armageddon or something) sounds good, apparently Rayden goes bad, or at least gets in touch with his dark side. Not sure what characters are in it though (it does get a little complex with the death and the being resurrected and the possession by Onaga and stuff). Btw does anyone else find Liu Kang REALLY ANNOYING? Liu Kang was one of those characters that was annoyingly hard to beat, and when you played as him, you got your ass kicked. Raiden was already a darker character in Deception, if you look at his ending, he punishes Shujinko for being so gullable and believing that Damashii was a good being. And that punishment is death. In his bio it says " I will no longer allow the will of men to determine the fate of this realm. They will fight for it, or I will destroy them. All will fear the new God of Thunder." His ending says " My patience for mortals has worn thin. If I am to protect Earthrealm, I must punish those who would threaten it. The fool Shujinko had let himself be deceived into believing that he worked for a greater good. He was in fact an unknowing tool of a greater evil- one that had almost caused the destruction of Earthrealm. That Shujinko undid his mistake and destroyed the Dragon King is of no importance. Those who place Earthrealm in harm's way will pay with their lives." If that doesn't imply he's in touch with his dark side, I don't know what does.

Liu Kang was one of those characters that was annoyingly hard to beat, and when you played as him, you got your ass kicked. Oh yes. That's why I hated playing him. I never did that well as Jonny Cage either. I wasn't too bad on Sub-Zero, Kano, Sonya or any of the others, just I really couldn't play with Liu Kang. Plus his horrid voice drove me nuts. And that ending is one of the reasons why I love Rayden, cos he's getting fed up with having to protect stupid humans. (Btw there's a great parody series on Newgrounds based on the Konquest mode and Shujinko's search for the Kamidogu.)

As much as I despise that screechy-voiced twit, I LOVED his dragon fatality. his extremely annoying battle wails voice almost cause my head to explode. Good, someone agrees with me that Liu Kang is a screechy-voiced twit.

Doesn't Liu Kang come back as a zombie in MK:D?

My mate said something stupid like that happened.
I guess my reasons for liking Kang are that his moves stayed consistant through the first 3 games. I can do anything with him on MK2. And I agree, Dragon Morph is a freaking excellent fatality. His friendship is also cool.

It's true, Liu Kang returns as a zombie after being killed in MK:DA, and he seems even more freakier in that form if you ask me.

I know, I've unlocked everything bar whatever is in koffin ID. One of Shujinko's special moves, I think, but I don't think I'll bother.

I haven't played Deception for a long long time.
Is Shaolin Monks any good?

Not sure, I didn't get it. Just to say so, it was last Christmas I got MK2, MK3 (both on Midway Arcade Treasures), MKDA and MKD all in one go, though I'm not an MK nut, it was just by pure coincidence.

Speaking of MK spin-offs, have any of you played that Sub-Zero one? I seriously need to get a GameCube, the last MK game I played was MK4! I have some serious catching up to do.

I played Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, Jax's spinoff....It features Jax and Kano, and possibly Sonya....I don't know, I didn't get into it much, since it was my friend that had it.

I am considering getting either a PS2 or a GameCube, cos obviously I've not played MKD or MKDA yet (or Sonic Heroes, but that's another story) and obviously you can get MKD and MKDA for both of these. Which version is better (for graphics, quality of gameplay etc), GameCube or PS2?

The only trouble is, I don't think Shaolin Monks is out on Cube. If it's only Deception and DeadlyAlliance you want, get a Cube.

Xbox and PS2 offer you live play, whereas the Gamecube version offers you Goro and Shao Kahn as extra characters, instead of live play.

There's just one problem, the Cube version of MKD never got a UK release, so you would have to import it from America.

I've been watching the Cube's release lists for a long time and there's been no mention or preview of it, so it wouldn't look like it.
