More Mortal Kombat news: I've seen some of the artwork for MK Armageddon, which is out in October, and it has EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER EVER in it. Yes, even the rubbish ones no-one likes, like Kai and Stryker. Although apparently Motaro's not going to be in it cos he's too big or something. I'm not sure how they're going to explain Reptile AND Onaga being in the game, considering they're technically the same person (since Onaga reposessed Reptile's body). Also, there is a possibility there might be one big CGI ending instead of all the characters having individual endings. And they're keeping Konquest mode in.

I have a soft spot for the older Mortal Kombat games, they were damn fun to play on and some of the characters remain in gamers minds (Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero). However, not even a devote fan of the series can deny that MK has rapidly gone down hill in recent years. Deadly Alliance was poor and Deception wasn't great either (I haven't played Shaolin Monks).
Concerning the Tekken series, it seems to be following the same route as MK; having past its zenith, its tumbled downward. Compared to its younger brethren Soul Calibur, the Tekken engine has become slow and outdated. This doesn't stop the characters and plot from being engaging, but the heart just isn't there anymore.
Despite this, the MK series still has a window of chance to redeem itself, but they'll have to try very, very hard.

*pets the dancing Kabal* Where did you find him? It was an avatar I nicked off someone from another forum somewhere to use as my own, so I've no idea.

I wonder if MK Armageddon actually has a storyline to it or if it's just like Trilogy, packing in every character in the game and going with the MK3 story (except this time they'd go with Deception).

Slightly OT, but I just remembered one redeeming thing about Jonny Cage - in MK4 he has the funniest ending ever. And he says, "Your mum!"

So Motaro IS going to be in it. Have any of you seen the new character renders yet? I haven't seen any of the characters from the last two games, but all the renders of the characters who've not been in the game since MK Trilogy / MK4 are online. Kintaro, Sheeva, Jarek and Stryker look much cooler now, Reiko looks like a maskless Shao Kahn (no, despite what the rumours say, they're not the same person), Blaze seems to have turned into a giant, Kai looks like a ninja and Rain is a knight!

Oh yes! I can't wait for this, and it'll probably be the last current-gen game I get, if I'm correct. I'm nostalgic just thinking about all the characters I can play as: Kabal, Raiden, Sindel, Nitara, Mavado... ...and Mokap! hehee

Wait a minute... what about Meat?

AFAIK he's not in it. Wasn't he a joke character anyway? Although technically you could also say that about Rain.

Meat, Motaro, Chameleon and Khameleon don't appear to be there, according to Wikipedia. I understand how Meat can't possibly have a backstory, but even he made an appearance in MK:Deception. I'm wondering if Chameleon and Khameleon were scrapped from the roster, because they just seem to have forgotten about them altogether.

It would have been interesting to see Khameleon in the game, since she's supposed to be one of the last descendants of the Saurian race (along with Reptile, and funnily enough, his trading card on Deception mentions her as one of his allies).

That makes sense. I'm aware that they were both basically created as doppelgangers for the ninja characters. Their presence and relations were explained to my knowledge, but since they basically copied the moves of other characters it's understandable that they might not be feasible as playable characters in the game. Nevertheless, there's no reason not to have them make an appearance.

Ed Boon hinted there might be one. I know you can make your own fighters this time around.

Ed Boon hinted there might be one. I know you can make your own fighters this time around. Yes, that IS a good feature. I saw a couple of screenshots with these black ninja guys who seem to have mechanical eyes. Now I've played Deception and seen all the endings, so I have to wonder if these guys are Noob Saibot's army of cyborg demons?

That would be cool to make your own fighters. Is the Dragon King going to be a secret fighter? That would rock..........

I have a secret shame. I could never beat him. I was just useless at fighting against him.....
Never completed Shaolin Monks either...

On the subject of Deception, whose fatality do you think is the best? Personally, I love Mileena's one where she rips her opponent's head off and makes orgasmic noises.

I can't remember all the fatalities. Doesn't Scorpion have one where he pulls off people's legs with his harpoon then jumps on their heads? That's a cool one! And Iso, Onaga is easier to beat than you may think. Here's some tips should you want them. To clear the game quickly I usually set the round time to 30 seconds. Now when you fight Onaga, be sure to keep your distance and jump away when he stomps or flaps his wings, and duck when he spits fireballs. You see the the gem-like objects on pedestals around the arena? These are the Kamidogu. Destroying these can help you beat Onaga faster. Back away from Onaga and circle around till you're next to a Kamidogu. Walking into it should make it smash. When it does, Onaga will weaken and stagger. Now's your chance. Hit him hard, don't waste time with special moves or combos, just use simple punches (also may be good to use a weapon). After hitting him a bit, back off and go for another Kamidogu. Repeat this process and Onaga's history.

Cool, thanks Devo. I just thought the pedestals were for show and never touched them. Now I know why I got creamed...

Hmm, I've been hearing all over that there's over 60 characters in Armageddon. Well I have the promo image for the game (the image with all the characters on) as my wallpaper and I have counted how many people are on it. There's not even 60 in this game! The image has 58 characters in it. Which means there are 59 characters in the game (Motaro's not in the pic). They could have 60 if they added Meat to the game. And I think they should, after all Mokap is in it and he's just a gag character.
