He's a talented guy. I don't think we're ever going to escape the first Resident Evil. No matter what happens, it'll get remade time and time again on different formats.

I wander if the DS version will include the really cool two player mode that was in the Saturn version....
I bought Resident Evil: Code Veronica X on Friday. It's alright. When they say Resident Evil 4 is 3D, do they mean, like, Tomb Raider 3D or Resident Evil: Code Veronica X 3D, where you still have the kinda fixed views, only looser?
And JC, the thing you said about Resi surving from how old it is and blah blah: Tekken-survied longer, Mortal Kombat-survived longer, Tomb Raider-'bout the same, Grand Theft Auto-'bout the same, Sonic The Hedgehog-survived longer, Final Fantasy, survived longer. In fact, Capcom have been living off Street Fighter 2 in some way or another for about 15 years now.

Resi 4 is full 3D with the camera in a fixed position behind Leon's shoulder, and you can move it about. It always snaps back to the same place, though.

Sounds a bit poo...I'll buy it though, since now I have both a GameCube AND a Playstation 2.

Some new stuff on Deadly Silence, taken from Gamespot:
Resi 1 played Resi 4 style? Now that piques my interest.

How's cooperative mode gonna work? Surely having Chris and Jill in the same places will kind of screw up the story?

Well, it probably won't be the full game, otherwise there'd be long bits where one character is mucking around with a statue puzzle or whatever whilst the other three are just standing there looking bored. So thus they can play about with the story, presumably the four players will take on the roles of Chris, Jill, Barry and Rebecca.

Edit: The image had been taken down.
The top-middle page shows what the multiplayer modes looks like. Note that the other players are represented by colour marker, rather then character models.
Also, apparently PS1 FMV and voice will be used!
JILL SANDWICH FOR THE WIN!

Code Veronica is being mean to me! I have to start again now because I'm fighting Alexia and don't have any ammo on any of Chris' weapons.

Well, my brother just borrowed RE4.
I havent played a Resident Evil game since part 1.. which, at the time and the age of 7-8, freaked the hell out of me. But since everyone is saying it's one of the best games of the year i'm going to give it a go.

I've been playing on Res Evil: Outbreak for months now and I'm still stuck on the hospital level. Can anyone here help me please before I lose my mind? lol

Never played it, sorry. Try Gamefaqs. I had the weirdest dream two nights ago...I was in Resi 4, as in actually in the game. It was that bit near the end where you're in the kitchen and that guy suddenly bursts out of the giant oven and goes for your neck. The first time he killed me, then I somehow rewound the game and tried again - got him but he got me quite a lot too so I rewound the game AGAIN and this time got an inch-perfect headshot with my Striker. And despite the fact this was actually me doing it and not Leon, I was still observing it from the game's camera, i.e. I was looking at the back of my own head. Very odd. Especially since I haven't played the thing in a good couple of months...

*Once again enters thread, and can't be bothered to think of another joke about his trousers*
Upon completion of Code: Veronica last week, last night I finally purchased Resident Evil 4 on PS2!
Now, I had doubts about this game, because of how much it differs from the other Resis in many different ways, but I must say that this is one of the most excellent games in the whole world, including Wales. I love the shooting people, and the knife not being useless anymore, and the kicking people. It's really fun. And Ashley is HOT. And the dodgey cockney gun dealer guy is SO cool.

Anyone care to speculate on what might be in the next RE game? I've seen a teaser trailer for Resi 5 and my curiosity is in uproar. So many questions, like is this new game gonna fill up the major plotholes of the last game, for example How did the Los Illuminados get their hands on the G-Virus (the sample that Ada takes at the end of the game), why is Wesker trying to restore Umbrella after he betrayed them? Also, who is the main character? It looks like it could be Chris Redfield, but I'm not certain. He doesn't look quite as how I remember him (and I don't just mean his clothing). And are zombies returning to the game?

I must say that this is one of the most excellent games in the whole world, including Wales. See? Toldja. Toldja. Toldja. *suplexed* And Devo, in response to your ponderings about Wesker, my personal guess is that he's re-establishing the company so he can run it himself and do nefarious doings.

I beat RE4 about a week ago, I must say that it's easily one of the, if not best, games of the year.
The last boss let me down though... seems like most bosses could be killed in 1 hit by a rocket launcher.

seems like most bosses could be killed in 1 hit by a rocket launcher. All of them can (except Saddler and Krauser). That's the point of the thing. You're right though, Saddler is far too easy.

In other news, I only found out about suplexes last week, despite owning the game since March. I also found out that flash grenades kill Plagas. Learning both of these things have completely changed the way I play the game now.

I also found out that flash grenades kill Plagas. You only just found that out? I wouldn't survive the game without that handy-dandy trick.

I know, it's unbelievably obvious too (a file actually tells you that they don't like light). I've completed the game about five times, and throughout the whole game I've been killing Plagas with bullets. I usually sold my Flash grenades to the Merchant because I thought they were useless....not any more! ;D I'm such a Resi-tard.

If you've done it right he should fall to his knees. Now run up to him and you should get the command 'Suplex'. Leon should do a wrestling-style move which smashes the Ganados head into the ground, sometimes smashing it completely. Note that this doesn't work on the villagers, only the monks and the other enemies throughout the game. If you do it to a villager it becomes a normal kick move. I swear you won't know about this unless you hear it or read it somewhere else - there isn't anything in the actual game that tells you you can do this. I would never have known if I hadn't read the massive Resi 4 thread on the Penny Arcade boards.
