I did- it was lucky that I did, although I don't know why they didn't give Dialga it to hold in the first place.
I've also caught Uxie without too much trouble, but Azelf is proving to be a real pain with Uproar, and I've spent about 15 Dusk Balls on it before it destroys my team (they're in they're earlier 40's, so I've got a time yet to catch Azelf) but I only get one or two wiggles from the ball, if I'm lucky.
Cresselia and Mespirit are the easiest of any of the running Pokemon to catch. The map function on the Poketch is so handy. Only took me about 20 minutes to get Cresselia, including the time going to meet it in the first place.
Have they done that in this game? I never had that in the older games, only with pokemon that had been transfered from another trainer. I had a level 50 something pokemon with only a couple of badges (a number under the "pokemon up to 50 will listen to you") and they never went against my commands.
I'm pretty sure the "obey" clause has been in all the games
It's not really a case of they wont obey you, they just might not obey you. Some higher level Pokemon will be fine, some will be unsufferable. I used to have a traded Blastoise at level 70 before I had enough badges to have it listen to me and it used to be a bit of a pain. Often Pokemon who dont want to listen will ignore a command and instead use their fave attack (normally the most powerful), or just plain not bother.
I really like the contests, I keep entering them XD. Plus I enjoy making poffins far more than I ever liked making those infernal blocks.

For happiness evolution, their happiness stat has to get to 220 (86%). Wild Pokemon base happiness is generally 70ish for non-legendary first stagers, hatched Pokemon have a base happiness of about 120.
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl will hit European shelves on the 27th July, Nintendo has announced today. The Dialga/Palkia stylus pre-order bonus will also be available when you pre-order the games at GAME, Dialga for pre-ordering Diamond and Palkia for pre-ordering Pearl. You will receive these with your game when it launches
If that wasn't enough, June 2nd will see Manaphy being 'released' into the UK wilderness. If you take your copy of Pokemon Ranger to any GAME store on the second of June, you will receive a limited edition chocolate Pokeball which will contain the code to unlock the Manaphy mission in the game - as well as an A3 Pokemon Diamond and Pearl poster to stick up on your wall.
The official Manaphy website has also updated to include new information about the Pokemon - as well as the airing dates for the 9th Pokemon movie on UK Cartoon network (Thursday being the premier on "Cartoon Network Too"). The "Get Manaphy" link is currently saying simply "Coming Soon" still - this will presumably update on June 2nd with the European Manaphy code.
Now that Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have been officially announced in Europe, Battle Revolution is expected to be announced and dated very soon.
