Damn, is it? I love Soul Calibur, it is one of my favourite games and I was thinking of buying Soul Calibur 3 just recently. What's wrong with the game?

Damn. >_< That does sound pretty crappy. Ah well, I'll probably buy it anyway and test it out so I can get my own opinion on it. But, I've been warned.

It's still a Soul Calibur game, and it's still worth buying. I kinda regret getting it full price, but myeh. I still play it every other weekend, on the only stays-fun-forever mode in that game - Slip 'n Slide.

I couldn't agree with you more. ^-^ Well for a game that's considered worse than its prequels you still play it a lot. =]
Are there any new additional characters?

Yeah, there's a few. A big Scythe guy who plays like a bad Astaroth, his fiery clone demon thing, a girl with a small ring sword, and a woman with a Japanese umbrella and hidden tachi are the only ones I can think of now.

Ah, well they sound okies, but from your description, nothing special.. Are there any characters that have been removed? I know they haven't removed Ivy. Or at least she was shown in the advertisements on television.

Can't think of any removed characters, beyond the special ones in SC2 (Heihachi, Link, Spawn). Oh, and possibly Yoshimitsu. Definitely Necrid. There's also Olcadan, the standard "uses other peoples' styles" character, who happens to be half man, half ORLY owl.

Haha, Olcaden sounds cool just purely for being half ORLY owl. I love that random owl. Ah, Yoshimitsu, I could never tell whether he was inspired by Tekken's Yoshimitsu or not. Or whether the naming was coincidental. I've just never been bothered to research it.

Both Tekken and SC are made by Namco, so yes, he is the same Yoshimitsu. I always liked playing as him personally. I also think there's a few extra secret characters who weren't present in the previous game, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

Bags of personality, but few clothes. and a woman with a Japanese umbrella and hidden tachi are the only ones I can think of now. Setsuka. And I assumed she's one of the overpowered characters you were talking about. God, I couldn't agree more. Create-A-Soul is fun, though I'm sure they'll improve upon it come sequel time.

He does a funky lil move he does, he kinda hops around on his sword like a pogo stick.. but I could never pull it off. But I guess youve all seen it... Also... I thought Setsuka was a female version of Ryu from some other fighy type game.. I dunno, Im probs thinking of someone else!

I liked Tira too. Good playstyle, but the rule with Ringswords is - the bigger the better. It was far too small. Setsuka is as annoying as you say, and no match for her supposed rival, Mitsurugi. Zasalamel is just boring as crap.

I didn't even realise that Tekken was created by Namco either. Oh well, you learn a new thing everyday. =] Ah, okies. ^-^ Well, even for the negatives I've heard I'm sure there are still positives so I'll be buying it as soon as possible. Should be fun. =]

In regards to Olcadan, I quite like how Namco are trying to make the "Random character" guys different for each game. First the badass Edge Master, then the dire Charade and now the pretty cool Olcadan.
Just don't have the English voice track on when you're playing as him. He sounds like Elmer Fudd.
Is Tekken 6 coming out on the 360? All this Namco talk makes me want to play it.

I do have a special place in my heart for SC3 because they fixed up my favorite characters moveset quite a lot, Voldo. It that game it was a lot easier to switch stances and he could also block while in reverse stance which he couldn't in the earlier games. Which made playing as him more appealing and less suicidal.
Other then that though, it is fairly flawed. Some of the characters are a bit broken. Also, if I remember correctly, the created character classes are massively overpowered. My dagger wielder chewed through the main cast because his moves were just so good. I remember his ultimate attack being silly-easy to pull off, like down-forward-kick or something like that. Also, I think the club created class had an inescapable combo, which wasn't that tough to pull off.
And BTW, Yoshimitsu is in SC3, they didn't remove him.

I don't recall the Custom characters being that overpowered, myself. Theif characters can just spam bombs, though.

Not all of them were. But I remember mastering quite a few. I played as a ninja, (obviously,) and his dagger form was really powerful, but his swing chain blade thing was less so. I also had a guy who attacked with wooden blocks on his feet (who was modeled and named after Retro). And he was a real killer once you knew some good moves.

I found the Ninja style to be very rigid and weak upon trying it out. Kept a character as one for a little while then made him change profession. [censored], I just realised I have to unlock all the classes again.

I haven't played the PS2 version of SC3, but I have had a few goes on the arcade version and that was pretty awesome. I hope Tira's in 4. And Amy (Raphael's ward, I dunno if she's in the home version because from what I can gather the arcade version came out afterwards and fixed a load of bugs, then added in more characters or something?).

I GOT MY MEGA DRIVE BACK TODAY! Get in there, haven't seen it in nearly 10 years! On top of this, I also got the following games returned to me: Sonics 1, 2, S&K and 3D Streets of Rage Ayrton Senna's Super Monaco GP II (playing it right now!) EA Sports Double Header (?) Super Hang-On (tougher than expected) World Cup Italia '90 (a.k.a. the game that single-handedly put me off football sims for life) Columns Revenge of Shinobi Golden Axe (a bit [censored]) James Pond II Codename: Robocod (loved when I was a bairn) Mortal Kombat 3 (if I can't beat it with infinite credits, then this can bugger off) NBA Jam (I was randomly handed it by Dixon's, funny story) Premier Manager 95 Rugby Wolrd Cup of 1995 (given but never played) Taz Escapes from Mars Batman Forever (ugh) Of the two controllers, one has dodgy 'down' and 'A' buttons, and the other thinks I'm permanently holding start. Obviously I'm using the first one, but it means that some games like MK3 have become unnecessarily (more) difficult. Also, I played Streets of Rage for the first time in 10 years. I only ever remember getting to the last stage once (with all successive bosses) and losing to the fire fatty. Unbelievably, I got all the way up to the final boss in my first sitting, and nearly beat him as well! ;D One other game I remember having is not present, however: The Pagemaster. Though I guess it was inevitable that something would turn up missing.

Was it off travelling the world or something? The label probably is. It was ripped off by this visiting toddler one day and ended up all over the floor and had to be binned. So if you ever find an MD Pagemaster with a destroyed label, it's more than likely mine. EDIT: It's annoying when yours is the last post on the previous page and those scanning haven't a clue what you're on about. :-|
