Dunno about PC Silent hill, but the PS1/2 games are definately worth it. 1 may look a little dated with graphics though, but its the scariest. 2 + 3 are better graphics-wise but not as scarey. I can't imagine the PC versions being different... can they? I'm not getting a Playstation to buy one game.

Muahahaha, I got the 42-in-1 for £5 with my trade in of Megaman. I only paid £9.99 for it, so its a pretty good deal. Well, I spent about £2 on ebay trying to sell it, but still. Victory!

Well the Wipeout Pulse download packs have finally been released. Snag is, they're microtransactions. This disappointed me, but I'm still optimistic. I'll just look at the pri-£3.49!!?
£3.49!!?
THREE BLOODY FORTY NINE!!?
So basically, I must pay half the original price of the game for a meagre handful of extras? You can bugger right off.

No point making a new topic for this, but for those interested - Rare are saying, off the record, that Banjo 3 will be released for Christmas. Now, this doesn't specify where - but chances are it'll be simultaneous and Microsoft will push for it as a big Christmas title.
It'd probably work well actually if they can steal away some of Nintendo's audience this Christmas with it - but [censored] knows what Nintendo has planned for Christmas. Though there is Animal Crossing for the Wii being included in their financial reports for this year to set some tongues wagging...

Im not really the most dillegent when it comes to companies and games mind. If it wasnt for the fact a rare logo appears when you start the game I probably wouldnt have know they made it anyway.

Saying that, Rare are developing a port of Viva Pinata for the DS. They also made Diddy Kong Racing for the DS recently. But that stars Diddy Kong. Thus it is actually the spawn of satan. Microsoft is happy to support the DS 'cos it gives Sony a hard time and they don't exactly have anything in the market to compete with it. I'm sure that Microsoft, like most of the rest of the world, are expecting to see Viva Pinata on the DS massively eclipse the sales of the 360 game too - which were pretty inconsequential on the whole. They really need to pull their fingers out of their asses for Banjo this year - especially if they put it out for Christmas. Family friendly games are serious business.

All I've seen of Banjo was that trailer... must have been the better part of a year ago now. Didn't set the world alight, either. Truth be told, the only Rare game I've properly enjoyed was Conker.

This week on Xbox Live Arcade, Commanders: Attack of the Genos (800) and Discs of Tron (400)
Tron only came out a little while ago, are they trying to start a new Tron craze? I mean, the first Tron craze never actually happened, but still, Tron 2.0 Killer App. might be on Xbox Live Originals within three months at this rate.

Is it true that if you sit a 360 upright, it can burn a ring into a disk?
|

|
Post by Sin on Feb 12, 2008 14:35:00 GMT
Ring disk burning can happen to every electronic device under the sun that uses disks and lasers, and I haven't heard any stories about it being more common in 360s then in, lets say, a normal DVD player.
The 360 instructions say not to move then device while the disk is spinning, and that is true. You don't move it. And if you stand it upright then you make sure it isn't going to fall over.

I asked because when I bought it last year in Gamestation, they warned me about sitting it up, but I could do with the extra space on my desk.

Sitting it up is fine, just don't move it into that position while it's on.

I've had mine sitting up since the day I brought it and it has red ringed nothing so far.
Just as Pom suggested, just don't pick it up and shake it when it is on, make sure the surface is stable and (if you are using wired controllers) then make sure the wires don't shift during play and knock the console over.

When I sit mine up, the whirr of the disk becomes very noisy and I can't hear the TV/play it discreetly. I find putting it on its side preferable.

My 360 was upright and it's Red Ringed twice. But that's more about the fact that it's tightly enclosed and thus overheats easier.

Is Endless Ocean any good?

Dunno what the heck it is, but most sites are giving it a 8-9/10. From the pics it looks Ecco-ey, which is always a good thing.

Is Endless Ocean any good? It's extreme casual gamer territory (and not Tony Hawk extreme by the way). If you're content sitting there just watching fish float around you, then yeah - fun enough. Basically, it's the kind of game your mum might like, or your granny. The raving reviews are probably acknowledging that and scoring it for that audience (which I'm on the fence about whether they should be doing that when their audience doesn't match up...). I, personally, wouldn't spend the full asking price for it. But if I could pick it up cheap (and it probably wouldn't be that hard, I'm sure it's a very tradable title), I'd be happy enough zoning out to it for a while. Here's some gameplay footage I tracked down as an example
