Honestly, I was really glad for it -- the whole Arrancar/Hueco Mundo arc's been going for half of the time he's been writing it, nearly. Was a nice change in the pace before Ichigo goes and loses another six pints of blood. :/

Also, the battle above Karakura is way more interesting than the Ichigo/Ulquiorra grudge match which is happening for no reason. BUT, the Flashbacks beat the crap out of any and all chapters the series has ever produced. Seriously, the Vizard crew is infinitely more engaging and well balanced than the rest of the cast. Also, over these last 7 or 8 chapters, we've had pretty much 90% of all questions about the series answered. All we need is some Isshin info (unlikely to be part of the 100 year ago occurrences since he retired only 20 years ago) and we'll have everything I was wondering about for 200 chapters.

Sod Isshin. I want more on Ryuuken.

To be honest, I had no interest in the Vizard crew up until recently. Mainly because they never did anything. It was only when I realised that they were all Captains or Vice Captains that they really piqued my interest.

Ryuuken is obviously far more interesting than Isshin, but he also has a backstory that, apart from the bits with Isshin, isn't exactly a mystery at the moment. We know who would have taught him, that he's lived in Japan all his life like his dad, what his powers were like years ago.

Anyone who tells you that Comics, Manga, and Graphic Novels are different things isn't worth your time. Smithy tells the truth.

Reading the last Gotham Central trade I am reminded that Stacy the secretery really deserves her own ongoing series.
Also can someone recommend me some good horror manga, I quite enjoyed the Hideshi Hino book I read, and that one about spirals with the crazy hair war story.

This week's Naruto chapter: Stupidity has been resumed. Can't say I missed it particularly.

Last comix I bought: 1-800-MICE issues 1 and 2; it's a stange little comic by the saxophone player from a band I saw recently, Soiled Mattress and the Springs. It's a bit mental in places: Also - Ron Regé Jr.'s Yeast Hoist series is incredible and his art style is both cute and really kinetic and busy with lines and hearts and stuff flying everywhere as a means to display emotions or something. He's in a band as well - Lavender Diamond, they're tweeee. ALSO - I'm on my way towards owning everything Jeffrey Brown's done which makes me satisfiedddd.

Is it strange to develop a crush on a girl who was selling tickets at the venue I went to last night because she was doing so while reading Sin City?
And should I bother with Alan Moore's stuff. Signs point to yes!

Naruto is silly. Gintama is awesome though, if inherently racist.

Japan is inherently racist. But what makes Gintama especially so? Is it strange to develop a crush on a girl who was selling tickets at the venue I went to last night because she was doing so while reading Sin City? If she'd been reading something better maybe... It's a good gateway drug comic though, so I wouldn't say it's too strange.

The subtext about how the Amanto are workshy, dishonest, immigrant aliens destroying the culture and that Gintoki etc. are trying to protect the Samurai spirit of Japan?

Fair enough. Can't say I ever got that far. Found it hard to care past the first few episodes.

I've recently been re-reading some of the X-treme X-Men series, and, upon doing so, I've decided that the Arena wasn't one of the better story arcs.

I really like this student film based on Vera Brosgol's story from the first volume of Flight.

I'm mulling over whether to get the Sinestro Corps War or Infinite Crisis (when they're both paperback). Which is the better series?

Oooh, when are they released in paperback?
I'd say Crisis, but I'm a sucker for that kind of story.

To be honest, I don't know if they'll be released in paperback or not. I'm optimistic, though.

They're also [censored] at translating, too. Not as bad as Viz, but they can be pretty horrific.
