Sonic looks so weird in the third panel there.

"Lucky"?
As in, his parents sure had some cosmic sense of irony, considering their son's future finances.

To start of Nigel thank you for the many memories I have of your time during sonic the comic and its nice to see your still involved in a way after all these years.
Q.1
How did you orginally get started in comics?
Q.2
What is your advise for someone like myself (who has a few small house publishing credits under his belt i.e short stories and comic stories)who wants to try and break into main stream comics?

I have always wanted to know this, and I know it's probably a really stupid question...
It was called "Sonic the Comic" but why were all those other stories thrown in there? I never really read those when I got my hands on some copies because I read the comic for Sonic and co.
I notice that STC-O has taken them out, so I am guessing it was a commercial thing, but was there any real reason they were tossed in a Sonic comic?
And also, where did the idea for that black / white cat from the really old issues with Captain Plunder come from? The one that bent reality without explanation?

They just keep falling through; Sonic strips are easier to get artists for. House of the Dead is coming back though.

Down to business. Hai guys. My first post. And it aint gonna be a happy one. So. To reply. That is a REALLY stupid question. seriously, can you imagine a 7 page comic? How effing retarded would that be? Maybe they were put in there cos the artists wanted to be doing more than a 7 page comic in one particular character. You can't criticise what you don't know about - which to be honest, having a look on the forum before I made any posts - you are doing alot. You criticise stories, drawings/artists (e.g Adamis), peoples ideas etc. If you think that YOUR ideas and drawings are far better and you can improve upon them, then be my guest! YOU make a comic. See how [censored]ing long that lasts. When you have a fully established comic that everyone reads, loves and everyone thinks is perfect, THEN come back and criticise to your hearts desire. In the mean time, try to appreciate the service you are getting here and don't be so whiny about it. Coz beleive me, you aren't making a good name for yourself here. Have a nice day

So. To reply. That is a REALLY stupid question. seriously, can you imagine a 7 page comic? She presumably means "why weren't the other three strips also about Sonic". Half the point of this board is for feedback on STC-O issues - and, with the Graphics Zone, other fan projects - and we're not going down the route of saying "you can't criticise unless you also write/draw". And certainly not down the route of saying "make a comic before you comment on STC-O" because that excludes everyone who isn't on staff.

Ok I know it's wrong to just be raging back, but, she's just insulting without any form of CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. She is just saying things aren't good without providing a plausible reason why. Else I wouldn't care. Anyway, I ain't here to be a troll. I've said my piece , I wont rage any more. Just had a bee in my bonnet.

And also, where did the idea for that black / white cat from the really old issues with Captain Plunder come from? The one that bent reality without explanation? Not Nigel but I believe I can easily answer you 1- The magazine served both as a games magazine and a comic. The idea was to publicize as much SEGA as possible- people tend to forget this but, SEGA in general was famous, not just Sonic. Sonic however was the mascot so it was with him that the comic ended up going. Also, I suggest you do go back and read the other strips, particularly Decap Attack. 2- Simpson, the silly cat with powers, is basically a parody of old cartoons and Felix the Cat in particular- go watch his shorts and you'll notice what I mean.

Have a nice day Hello and welcome! My first impression from the post you're replying to is that the person asking it is, or was not familar with STC as the rest of us are/were back in the day. As it has already been pointed out, STC was a SEGA comic for the majority of its run - oddly as the comic lost the offical SEGA comic status towards the end of its run, it had become a completely Sonic-focussed comic bar Decap Attack, IIRC? Second, I understand your need to criticise, yourself when you see something you can comment on but please try to keep it on a more civil basis? I can see you are new here too, in general we tend to keep arguments and heated comments to a minimum. As Charles said, the forum was originally for the rather small audience STCO had back then to provide feedback - and since then the forum has grown beyond that, but the primary focus is still for the comic and to make comments on it. It may not have been an entirely good question, but the comic staff - and occasionally Nigel - are here to answer our questions.

2- Simpson, the silly cat with powers, is basically a parody of old cartoons and Felix the Cat in particular- go watch his shorts and you'll notice what I mean. The best Simpson moment ever was when Nigel Dobynn had his eyes pop out of his head - causing Knuckles to recoil in horror and disgust.

We've had a few other non-Sonic strips appear too - there's some more Decap in the pipeline, for example.
