LinkiesSo... is it real? It certainly looks like something the Team Ico guys would do.

I think we have to hear more news until we find out for real.

I recall seeing that image of a chain going down a hole ages ago as the only shred of evidence that TeamIco were even embarking on a third game. And since there was no trailer accompanying said image (and the chain-thing is in this trailer), this might turn out to be real.

I can't believe any of you seriously think it's fake.
A) It's using a logo reminiscent of the "Nico" one they used in early SotC trailers B) Several journalists have come out and said that the first half of this footage is the same as they were shown behind-closed-doors over a year back C) Look at the assets that are actually finished (the non-"sucky 'cause it's pre-alpha" stuff) and tell me that's just some 3D arts student.
So yes, general opinion on this says it's real.

It's real, no question. The reason it's a little ropey is because it's very old and very early.
First impressions: The concept doesn't appeal to me as much as SOTC - I prefer action games over escort/puzzles, so I'm not sure. Definitely watching this one, though.

JJ hasn't yet realised that SotC was a puzzle game wearing an action game's skin. Don't tell him!

My point was it's far more action-orientated than Ico, but then you knew that, didn't you, you cretin.

The on-screen stuff is more action-packed, but it's all pretty much QTE and the action itself is done by the Colossi. Ico actually had combat.
So yeah, SotC is running from one puzzle to another, solving them, then doing a QTE, repeated a dozen times or so. Ico is Zelda-esque in its puzzle placement, but still has legitimate action parts in there, visually tame as it is.

I thought SotC was a mountain climbing simulator to be honest...
You know, in the same way Katamari was a dung beetle simulator.

Well, each colossus was one big puzzle/platformer level, in the same way mountain climbing walls can be puzzles, so yeah. That works too!
So basically whatever they show at E3 will be interesting, because we'll know it's an excellent game in the making.

It looks really interesting, and absolutely falls in line with Team Ico's style.
Bout time we get a look at what the team has been working on.

If I don't own a PS3 by the time this is released I will be buying one for it on the strength of Ico and SOTC being THAT good.

Although the concept of gameplay is more of puzzle and platforming getting up them, the mere concept is that you are a single human fighting a Colossus one on one. I think it's that feeling and immersion of an epic battle between you and it that Jamie is referring to, which I can definitely affirm to feeling also.

Ratchet and Clank...God of War...Heavy Rain... Thats the ones I'm looking to anyway. Although there's more than that depending on genre likings. As a note I do have one now. Won it, free. Really the price was the only thing keeping me away and that until recently Ratchet and Clank was the one and only game I'd have bought.

I wouldn't recommend MGS4 to Retro at this point because the game is one great big ball of fanservice. Despite a large portion of fans hating it for its ridiculous 'twists' and supposed crapping all over the backstory (as well as it being a 5 hour game with upwards of 10 hours of cutscenes), it's only really for them.
Also, surely the most obvious choice of game for you, Retro, is Valkyria Chronicles? 1. Awesome game that didn't sell well enough. 2. Awesome game made by Sega. 3. Awesome game that includes Vyse and Aika from Skies of Arcadia which you love.

Sacred feth, how on earth did I forget Valk? Yeah, that too.
MGS4 I will get, but I wanna replay through MGS to MGS3 first to get back into the mindset of the series and it's world.

I would recommend it because it's arguably the best game this gen, and I'd argue that any 'fans' who hated MGS4 aren't really fans. That's just me, though. It would be like a Batman fan hating the Dark Knight. I'd highly recommend Uncharted and Infamous, which is out next week.

It would be like a Batman fan hating the Dark Knight. Not really, since Dark Knight merely built upon the established franchise. MGS4 arguably crapped all over it. Also "real fans" sounds more like a mad fan taking any pile of crap Kojima puts out as gold and saying that people who don't blindly lap it all up aren't real. In essence, it makes you look elitist and stupid, which you aren't. Wouldn't recommend it! Not to mention I find it hard to give the "best game this gen" award to a game in which you spend more time watching than playing. Such a pity, too, since the first two chapters are excellent and jam-packed with awesome. On subsequent playthroughs, I just do those two. It's not worth my while watching the next three chapters, or skipping endless cutscenes and realising it's about 20 minutes long. Kinda like the Tanker in MGS2, the opening is let down by the rest.
