Not that this thread is going to go anywhere pre-E3, but this is true. I find it amusing however, that JJ wasn't aware of the large portion of MGS fans who hated MGS4, and I tried to convince him, when earlier this week on another forum, there were people who weren't aware that a large portion of MGS fans loved MGS4, and I had to convince them. Personally, I think what there is of it is brilliant. And a worthy addition to the PS3 exclusive lineup alongside Valkyria Chronicles, and assuredly this game whenever it eventually comes out.

For some reason Pom, it takes absolutely no provocation whatsoever for you to launch a tirade against me. It's almost as though every single thing I say bothers you. Did I do something in the past to insult you that I can't remember? If so, please inform me by PM. I'm tired of your attitude and having to constantly defend every single sentence I type. You don't act this way towards other people, so I'm wondering what the problem is. I can only assume that it's a lame attempt to provoke me. I just want you to know that I didn't start this fight. I spend a lot of time on gaming boards, of course I know that quite a few fans hated Metal Gear Solid 4. Entire MGS boards have closed down because of constant arguments about the ending to the game. Some people were passionate about the fact that Big Boss would never return, and MGS4 ruined that for them. I know this and acknowedge it, and your assumption that I don't is absurd. How did you get so much knowledge of my attitude from just a few sentences? You are one presumptious guy. I honestly think that anyone who truly hated this game needs to have a long hard think about what Metal Gear is. Lord knows there are things I didn't like about it, but the story is not one. The ending made me cry, for chrissakes. I don't LOVE everything Kojima does, the current teaser site for MGS5 is a load of unecessary hype, I never cared for Boktai and I think Twin Snakes was a mistake, but I'm passionate about all the main MGS games because I thoroughly enjoyed them, and shouldn't have to defend my position on that. As for the cut-scenes, I've said before many times, watching something is still a form of interaction, and the ending cinemas are vital in tying up all the loose strands in the story. MGS fans know this. You're right, Acts 1 and 2 have the strongest gameplay, with act 2 in particular being amazing (I wasted about five hours on it once), but some of us enjoy the rest of the game, too. Don't tell me you didn't like act 3 and 4? They were brilliant! It's only really act 5 that the game essentially becomes a movie. (suddenly remembers why I don't hang around here as much any more, and why I still need to check out Valkyrie Chronicles.)

Regarding Project Trico, the trailer looks amazing, and if real (which seems likely) it's great that there's finally footage of Team ICO's recent efforts. The only thing that bothers me is whether or not it will be an accurate representation of the gameplay itself. I'll be honest, that's not for me to judge as I never had a PS2, and unfortunately don't have a PS3 either. Going by the widely positive reception however, I trust it will live up to standards.

I don't have anything against you, JJ. You're one of the upstanding contributors to the Arcade Zone, and aren't afraid to take a different stance to the internet hivemind. That's nothing if not a good thing. Your posts that I respond heavily to must just be read wrongly by me then - I respond the same way any time a user seems to be posting smugly, or in this case, in what appears to be a particularly insular mindset. Really? Saying that people who have a different opinion from you on a series you both like "aren't real fans"? That kind of statement is something that would get my goat regardless of who said it. For instance. I don't really have anything good to say about FFXII. I have only a few good things to say about X. There are, however, people who dislike all FFs pre-X, and love X and XII to the Nth degree. But who am I to say that they're 'not real fans'? Or the people who haven't liked any FFs since 6? Could I call them not real?
The statement just seemed really vapid and elitist, which is something you've proven yourself time and time again to not be. So I challenged you on it. I still think it was below you. But I apologise if you took offense at the way I responded. I'm not legitimately angry, and really? I can't recall a time I've posted angrily on the boards. When I get angry, I sulk, and don't post. But I acknowledge that my arguing is often far too involved for peoples' tastes, and agree that people should call me out on it when they think I'm being unfair. Like you did!
...But on the specific MGS argument at hand, I don't really have anything more to say on that in this thread. If you want to discuss it via PMs, or instant messenger, or make a thread about it, fine. But Retro rightly rapped our knuckles on leading this thread too off-rails.

Okay, I'm sorry for the outburst, Pom. I tend to take some of your posts the wrong way, I think.
I guess it is a little bit elitist and snobby to say it out loud, but I can't shift my own perspective around on the matter. I just can't see how an MGS fan could dislike 4. They took us back to Shadow Moses! I know the ending is divisive (the last part, pre-credits, alienated about half the fans, I think), but to use it as an excuse to rag on the entire game is bogus, man. Just bogus. Don't get it.
But yes, Trico! Big fuzzy birdkitty looks interesting.

People are calling the bird thing "Pepe" which I'm sure is a reference that's passed me by completely.
