In STC 48 when Plunder tries to rob the Sandopolis Zone and they are confronted by the guardian Sonic asks Knuckles why the guardian tried to attack him.
Knuckles replies "He's from an ancient time Sonic. He won't even realise the people who once lived on the Floating Island are long gone"
But nearly 200 issues later, we find out Knuckles too was from that ancient time.
So what was the real reason the guardian still attacked him?

Probably that Kitching hadn't decided to make Knuckles eleventy-thousand years old when he wrote #48.
If you want an "in-universe" explanation...um...tough. A wizard Tantaror did it.

Security system.
Unless you've got the right passcode/id, you'll be seen as an intruder.
Or its just that old, it doesn't recognise Knuckles as an echidna.

As Shad said, the security system's probably knackered and it's not able to recognise Knuckles, or Knuckles doesn't know how to switch it off (lot of missing records and Knuckles couldn't read many of the ones he did have back then).

It could be that there were thieves in the Ancient time, and the Guardian was to prevent the treasure from being stolen. There's not much to distinguish Knuckles from any other echidna, so the Guardian may have interpreted him as a threat.

What if that stone guardian (not to confuse that word with Guardian Knuckles! XD) wasn't made by the echidnas? Surely then any one, including Knuckles is fair game?

Either that or Knuckles simply wasn't programmed to be someone it would know. I imagine its programms and Tikal/her father would be all it would respond to.

Or maybe Knuckles used to loot tombs. He sure did know a lot about the pyramid's defences...

Considering that A) the pyramid is hidden, and that B) the Echidna race is rather war-like, I'd guess that the Floating Island wasn't always an Echidna stronghold, and the Pyramid pre-dates Echidnian settlement. It's possible that this is the Dragonkin's work much like the Aquatic Ruin Sentinel from issue eight.

? Edit: seriously, look at this post and ask yourself what possible reason could I have had that required me modify it. There isn't one is there?

You mean the Drakons?

I guess he meant the Drakons and got them confused with Arctur the Dragonkin* from the Sonic and the Fourth Dimension book.

Because Kitching made [censored] up as he went along. Not saying it was BAD [censored].

Another question.
In the first Metallix story a future Sonic came to help present Sonic and sent him in to the future and all sorts.
Where did the first future Sonic come from to help present Sonic go in to the future in order to sent himself into the future again ;D

Because Kitching made [censored] up as he went along. Od-job ain't joking, folks - a bunch of Nigel's pitches are up on the old STC e-group, there's lots of vague "maybe" ideas in them. It's probably a sensible way of working on a licensed title.

Where did the first future Sonic come from to help present Sonic go in to the future in order to sent himself into the future again ;D You've pretty much answered your own question (if it is one, I dunno). It's basically a never ending loop of a Future Sonic helping a Past Sonic go through time, where that Past Sonic comes back further than when he went, thus becoming the Future Sonic. Wibbley- wobbley, timey- wimey... stuff.

What Pete means is that Sonic has a Tardis stashed away somewhere, either that or a plothole generator...

Oh... noooo. Since this seems to have become the recent "point out the plothole" thread:
How did the floating Island stay afloat for AN ENTIRE MONTH if Robotnik had removed the Chaos Emeralds from the Emerald Well, AND absorbed all the contained Chaos Energy?
>_<

In the 'Robotnik Reigns Supreme' story? I always assumed that it was because Robotnik had the power of a God and could keep it up in the air if he wanted to. And since Knuckles was working on his side, he wouldn't have had any reason to not keep it in place.
