Some casting news, regarding Cotillard and Gordon-Levitt: The studio said "Marion Cotillard will appear as Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father's philanthropic endeavors for Gotham. Gordon-Levitt will play John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon."

Just been browsing the Wikipedia page, and there's another character that I hadn't previously heard about: There'll be flashback scenes with Ra's, taking place thirty years before the events of Begins.
Cotillard's totally going to be Talia, isn't she?

Hmm. People are speculating on Ra's al Ghul's possible resurrection. If he is somehow involved, I hope they pronounce his name right this time.

"Raish-Al-Gool", I'm pretty certain. That's how it was pronounced in Batman TAS and in Superman TAS. In one episode of Batman Beyond, Terry pronounces it "Raz" and Talia corrects him. It was also pronounced "Raish" in Under The Red Hood.

Does anyone else think that the chanting sounds like "BIG BIG SPIDER SPIDER"? Spider-Man crossover confirmed Either that or Nolan's chucked out the whole "Batman" thing and turned this into Eight Legged Freaks 2 [nonsillycontribution]Bane's a Latin American character, innee? Maybe they're saying something in Spanish. (Or Portuguese if he's Brazilian, I dunno.) Could just be "The Fire Rises".[/nonsillycontribution]

If I recall correctly, Bane's defining moment in the comic books (aside from crippling Batman temporarily) was masterminding a mass outbreak from Arkham Asylum to tire Batman down and make him vulnerable to Bane's own attack.
Perhaps they're aiming at something similar here?

Ah yes, the Knightfall saga. If that's what they're going for now, they should be calling it The Dark Knight Falls.

I do wonder if they are planning to cast Joker as an unknown or at least create some foreshadowing for the sequel that isn't going to happen.

I wanted Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play the Joker in a few scenes. He's a great actor and he's practically a spitting image of Heath Ledger.
