Salutations
I just wanted to ask you guys and gals what non-Sonic STC strips people where interested in seeing, if any at all.
We've had Shinobi, Kid Chameleon, Shining Force and Golden Axe in the past to name but a few. As well as few interesting ones in recent years too such as House of the Dead, Panzer Dragon and Ristar.
What would you like to see me more of and what wouldn't you. Me personally, Shining Force can stay in teh cartoon bin it was left in lol, but Shinobi could be good.

Not exactly why you thought the Metropolis Zone, the board for serious discussions, was the place for this topic, so I moved it here.

I really hope for a Jet Set Radio or Kid Chameleon III.

Of all the strips from the original comic, Kid Chameleon is the one that I'd like to see return most. A lot of them had the unfortunate "MORE [X] ACTION COMING SOON!" sort of thing, followed by absolutely no action, but KC was one that had tons of potential.

Given how much STC plugged NiGHTS within its pages (all the pin-ups and such), I'm surprised a NiGHTS story never did the rounds.
How about Bonanza Bros? Or Rhythm Thief, in a Tintin style of storytelling?

I'd love to see (and draw) a new Rocket Knight strip or Astal.

How about stories in the style of Rupert The Bear with prose and also rhyming couplets for the younger kids?
Sonic thought it rather odd, Robotnik had become a God. Infused with new Emerald Power, He held the island and over it towered. "Gracious me and Goodness sake! Robotnik thinks this island's cake!"

Does it have to be SEGA?
Or something new or already done?

There were a few non-Sega games in STC - always games that you could play on a Sega console. But now that Sega doesn't do consoles any more, I'd have said by that logic anything's up for grabs. (I think Mario and Prince of Persia would be a good fit. There's probably better ones, I'm not remotely up to date with games. I'd say Angry Birds but they're already doing their own comics.)

There hasn't been a lot in the way of RPG games featured as stories; Shining Force is the only one I can remember off the top of my head. Depending on whether any writers have played the games of course, perhaps I could suggest something like The Story of Thor, or something like Sword of Vermillion or Fatal Labyrinth, both of which have minimal official backstory allowing for a bit of creativity with the canon? Would like to see a Story of Thor comic though, if only because I have a shop colleague who remembers it fondly, thus it would appeal to his interests.
And if anyone suggests Phantasy Star, I'll slap them in the face. That series is already enough of a canon cluster[censored] without us exacerbating it.

The trouble with adapting RPGs into comics is that the games themselves tend to be extremely plot-oriented and any kind of comics adaptation has to be either extremely reductive or contradictory in order to sustain itself - as we saw with Shining Force and the Shenmue strip. What people usually need from an adaptation is something that's expansive, that you haven't seen before - which is why the slate STC used to offer, generally speaking, worked so well - it offered an experience from these characters and settings that you weren't getting in front of your TV set.
(And the other reason is that the stuff worked on its own merits, regardless of whether you'd played the game or not. In 99% of cases, I read the comic before playing the game, if I ever did. The only cases I recall where the reverse was true were Sonic 3D and Sonic Adventure.)

Yes please. I put together a few ideas for a Burning Rangers strip while I was still in university with the intention of pitching it to whoever the editor was at the time (Charles?) but I never got round to filling it out enough... Also, Blizz's idea of a Rhythm Thief strip intrigues. I know very little about the game, but it looks like it could make quite a nice comic.

STC managed to make a comic strip out of EA's Mutant League Football, and what's the closest Sega property to that these days? That's right: Football Manager! It might be worth considering a look at some of the more obscure Sega properties if they take place in genres that offer particular storytelling opportunities. For example, toward the very end of the Dreamcast's life, Sega made a lightgun shooter called Confidential Mission. It wasn't anywhere near as popular as House of the Dead or Virtua Cop, but if at any time any of the comic's contributors want to write or draw a James Bond-ish spy action strip, they could look to that. Next to no plot, as well, so the creators would be free to expand on it however they wanted. I love The Story of Thor (or Beyond Oasis as it's known in the US). Got it soon after I got my Mega Drive, knowing nothing about it, and it turned out to be wonderful. It may essentially be a Link To The Past clone (but with the emphasis weighted much more toward fighting than puzzles) but it's all done extremely well. Great Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack, too. As for its suitability for STC Online stories: it could be a good alternative to Shining Force as a fantasy setting. I put together a few ideas for a Burning Rangers strip while I was still in university with the intention of pitching it to whoever the editor was at the time (Charles?) but I never got round to filling it out enough... I'm a big fan of that game, as well. A brilliant concept, but although NiGHTS achieved what it aimed for perfectly well on the Saturn, Burning Rangers was too ambitious for its host platform to do justice. So I've always thought it deserved a sequel. The closest we got was a BR-themed Phantasy Star Online bonus mission - in fact, I always thought a focus on online co-op would go well with the firefighting concept, and wished Sonic Team would apply what they learned on PSO to make a BR sequel with that approach. Also, fire effects have got so much better since it was released (just look at the propagation system in Far Cry 2!), so imagine how stunning a game based entirely around fire could look nowadays... As for a comic strip... Around the time of the early STC-O discussions on the STC Mailing List, I wrote a script for a Burning Rangers two-parter. My first and only ever venture into comic scriptwriting! I got as far as emailing it to Jessica Padkin (who'd mentioned she might be interested in drawing it). Of course, in retrospect it was awful. Basically it was just an adaptation of the first level of the game, but altered in pointless ways just for the sake of trying to make my mark on it. (The main change was that it concluded with a fight against the Mutant Plant Monster boss from the game, but instead of it merely being an out-of-control experiment, it was a transformed version of one of the scientists you rescue during the level.) Oh, and I shoehorned in as many of the comics storytelling gimmicks that I thought were cool at the time as possible!

I have written scripts for Kid Chameleon and Sparkster, but they've been languishing in the back of the filing cabinet due to lack of artists, sadly. Now that I'm back in action I'll be looking to brushing the dust off of them and touching them up.

Flashback is a game I've always thought would look good adapted in to comic form. And Streets of Rage has lots of potential as a gritty, GCPD style comic story.

Who was it who sketched out the adorable ChuChu Rocket panels on MSPaint?
'Cause I'd read that, provided it was kept to a small cluster of panels per installment.
