What new stuff and/or changes would you want? I have a few things I'd really like to see from remakes of the Sonic 1, 2, and S3&K trilogy. I realize these games have been ported/remade a lot before, but this's how I'd do it: Sonic 1:
For the most part the game would be the Mega Drive version of Sonic 1, but with the Master System levels inserted, remade with the graphics and physics of the Mega Drive version, 16 bit style music, checkpoint monitors replaced with the checkpoint posts, etc etc. Maybe the spindash too but the other thing would be way more awesome. Sonic 2:
More two player levels based on the levels from the 1 player game. And in single player mode Tails can pick up Sonic like he could in S3&K (and the player could make him fly playing as just Tails). Sonic 3 and Knuckles:Just make the 2 player mode better. That's it. I also thought that since there are a lot of new characters in the series now, and there weren't nearly as many characters back when Sonic the Fighters was made (hence them kinda grasping at straws with the characters that were in the game) it'd be cool to see a new Sonic based tournament fighter. And apart from that you could change... everything else. Everything else about Sonic the Fighters

I'd like them to stop porting so many old bloody Sonic games and put the talent on them into working on a new game the plebs
But seriously, I would like to see the Master System games get a lot more love than they do.

True, but if they HAD to do a remake I mean (for some reason. I don't know. Shadow is pointing a gun to their heads and demanding it or something).
The reason I say is because people are always going on about old games getting remakes with updated graphics. But personally I don't care about updated graphics and find people that can't BARE to play a game whose visuals are technically obsolete very strange. I suppose these same people also don't watch black and white movies. The only reason I mentioned the graphics thing in Sonic 1 is so that the look of the game would remain consistent with itself.

Are you aware of the Sonic 1 version for iOS and Android? I suggest you pick it up, it's the ultimate version! Also I believe Taxman and Stealth are working on doing the same to Sonic 2.

hmmm but they are perfect in every way. EVERY WAY.
Sonic 1 - Add a genuine 3rd act for Scrap Brain rather than Grey Labyrinth. IT JUST IRKS ME.
Sonic 3 and Knuckles - an apology for The Barrel Room in Carnival Night Act 2.
The Good 8 Bit Sanics - maybe try to Mega Drive-ise them up a bit. [censored] Labyrinth and G/Blast.
For a new Sonic the Fighters complete with Shadow, Rouge, Blaze and more we'd probably need a new Fighting Vipers first. And before that we'll need Virtua Fighter 6.
Thats about it... I mean Adventure 1, 2, Heroes, Shadow and Sonic 06. Yeah you can write whole documents about how you could improve them but that will never happen.

But I haven't played it because I'm skeptical as to whether a Sonic game not designed for a touch screen will play well on a touch screen. Is it really THAT good? I've heard that the Sonic Jam version of Sonic 1 is the definitive port.

Hum.
I'd ask for the Sonic Advance series to be ported onto the home consoles with added in multiplayer function for both online and offline use.
Then I'd request Sonic Battle to be given a port and a slight graphics lift as well with online multiplayer function.
As for the older games, I wouldn't mind seeing the 4 big genesis games get another port, if they add Amy to the selection of characters along side Tails and Knuckles that is. *Cough* fan hacks already did it*Cough*
For the really hard stuff, bring on Sonic 3D Blast/Flickie Island, it's time that game got a makeover. Give it a better control scheme plus a graphics lift and I'll buy a dozen copies of it.

I'm very surprised no-one's yet attempted a 16-bit remake of any of the MS/GG Sonic games, now the thought occurs.
At any rate, an update of those titles would be nice. Sonic 2 8-bit especially. Sonic Pocket Adventure in some form (I think there's probably about 30 people in the world who've bought it to date), and a second go for the Sonic Advance trilogy since it's now getting to the point of being a distant memory.
Sonic Rivals was pump, they're best left where they are for now. and sunc cunc

Yeah, I would have imagined they have but I don't really play fan hacks, I heard a lot of them were pretty buggy and I wondered if I should even bother. I'm starting to change my mind on that though because I've seen some videos of some hacks that genuinely look really cool. And I know that Tails and Knuckles are in the Taxman remake, with their S3&K abilities, but when I first heard about that I thought it was gonna be for home consoles like Sonic CD was. Was really disappointed when I found out otherwise. I just have a hard time seeing a Maga Drive Sonic game playing well on a smartphone. Might just be my prejudice towards most touch screen ports though. I like to be able to feel the buttons beneath my fingers.

Maybe a 3D overhaul of the MS games? Rebuild the stages in 3D, add new stages perhaps, build up the story and throw in some dialogue? Now a lot of people might not think much of such things, but I rather like a bit of narrative in my games.
And another thing I'd like to see is Sega fixing Sonic '06. That could have been as good a game as Adventure 1 or 2 had it not been so horribly glitch-ridden. A few adjustments to the story and dialogue wouldn't be amiss either, maybe find some way of clearing up the whole future/parallel-universe weirdness revolving around Silver, Blaze and Nega.

If they removed all of the glitches and bugs from Sonic '06 it would still be an absolutely atrocious game. You can't just fix that level of incompetence.

Pretty much the only way you're ever going to "fix" Sonic '06 is by scrapping the whole thing and starting from scratch. And in a way, that's already been done.

I've been playing the fan hacked games, Amy Rose in Sonic 1, Sonic 2, And Sonic 3 & knuckles, and I personally say the games are beautiful and have very fews bugs in them, just be warned, it's Amy's control scheme from Sonic Advance 1 thats used in them, so no spin attacks at all. You can find them on Sonic Retro BTW.
