I'm seriously missing the old StC comics. The"100% recycled paper" ones. Everytime I want to read my favourite comics now-a-days, I have to come online to do it. And that ain't easy with AOL 7. I really want the old fleetway publised ones back...

Unfortunately it does appear that eBay is the only source of our fulfilment unless you get particularly lucky at a boot sale.

^I'm annoyed. I have every issue of StC apart from the original Badnik's Bridge comics. The only reason is that I didn't think I had enough money to buy them as well as all the other 30-odd issues I found at the school fair.
I don't exactly lie awake at night because of it, but it is very annoying.

Yes, it is annoying to have gaps in your collection. I've got 1 - 196, so I really need the end comics... and a new copy of #11 as it seems alot of the pages are missing.

Hey, don't feel bad, I missed issue 82, which not only had Sonic splitting with Super (vital for the coming issue 100 arc), but it also detailed the defeat of Brutus, who as far as I was concerned, simply disappeared...

I think that a series of graphic novels should be produced inluding full sets of certain stories. This kinda thing does happen because I can remember buying these 3 rogue squadron comics, never being able to get the 4th and then being really annoyed that I eventually had to buy the graphic novel to read the whole story.
The thing is are all the actual prints for the comics kept in archives anywhere?

It's hard to say, considering that Egmont doesn't have the rights any more, and a fair few of the films had already gone missing by the time they began reprinting (some were eventually located, hence the odd order some of the stories were reprinted in).
Even if the films were unretrievable, there are other ways of bringing it back into print (eg simply reproducing pages direct from the magazines)...
I came up with a suitable order for the stories to be collected in a while ago... but if it ever happens, it'll be a long time from now. However, there are already a few in existence from 1994: Ravette Books collected #1-4 ("Spin Attack" - #1 cover) and #6, 8-10 ("Sonic Beats the Badniks" - #3 cover) as Sonic paperbacks, in addition to lesser-circulated Shinobi and Streets of Rage books (collecting the first story arc of each). Not by any means the greatest stories, but if the unlikely event that you ever come across these books, do take a closer look.
(Don't take my word for it on those titles/covers, BTW - it could easily have been the other way round.)
There were also two annuals, by the way, with original stories. The first one (1993?) included as its cover the first Sonic work Richard Elson ever did!

I stared collecting when I was like 6. So I only started collecting at issue 96. I have at least 10 huge gaps!

So who would own the rights to re-print old STC stories?

Sega and the creators, in theory, I suppose. I don't know if Egmont would as well, since they originally published them.

it'd be so great if sonic the comic continued officially, not that I don't love it here, its the best thing since sliced bread, it just seems that comics aren't so popular in england that they last long, though I guess STC had a good run

It also sufferd from being in a "kids comic" fomat I think. I mean obviously it WAS aimed at kids but, I dont know, I just have the feeling more older people would have bought it f it was in the style and size of other comics like the DC and marvel ones you get in dedicated comic stores. the size the archie series is in.

i guess so. still, some of the stories were not your typical kids stories, but I see your point. soetimes it cojld have been even darker than it was, and it would have benefited.

I don't think the size was a disadvantage at all. I think the only things that killed STC were reprints, budget cuts, an excess of weak Stringer stories and Mick McMahon's unappealing covers. Oh and the removal of Decap Attack of course

I must admit I loved Decap attack. They really should have continued doing other Sega stories as well as Sonic

STC's problem was that it just didnt grow with its audience, and therefore many lost interest, or at least enough interest to still keep buying it when you know your friends will look at you oddly for buying 'children's' comics. I still did buy them, but I almost felt like it wasnt worth it at points.
