"Too much like Archie" isn't a valid concern - the two comics were never supposed to be read in tandem.

You could have done almost everything with Snively that you could have done with Grimer. Not really - Grimer is pathologically loyal and obedient, Snively is a sneaky little treacherous git.

In any of his forms it is possible to make him look totally and completely evil, utterly terrifying, or just plain hilarious. Case in point: I wonder how long it would take for Robotnik to eat that cake, any takers?

He'd use the powers he had at the time to instantly teleport it through his digestive system.

In Archie and SatAM, yeah. Sonic, Tails, Robotnik and Knuckles are all different in Archie, too. No reason Snively would have been the same in both comics.

I think Grimer is a far better character design for the more mainstream "mature" STC. As far as characterisation goes, the characters could've been essentially the same. Or it could be the butterfly effect. One small change, becomes another bigger change and before you know it the whole STC universe is different.

I always assumed it had something to do with him looking sickly all the time. I recall Megadroid once saying "No, its not to help him breathe", so I concluded it was something more elaborate like syphoning the excess toxins out of his blood or something.
To conclude: lol dunno.

It reminds me of the suit the Eye man wears in Bladerunner, and he would wear that because he worked in a subzero cold room. It needed to be that cold to keep the eyes preserved.. so Im wondering if Grimer needs it for a similar reason, maybe be cant survive in Mobius' atmosphere and has to be either kept cold, warm or whatever.. like Faeros said, maybe its like a permanently attached dialysis machine or something!

I always thought Grimer looked a bit like Gangrene, Action Man's enemy

Slimey also wears one, so I would assume it's something for their species, that while probably not essential to life, makes it more bearable. So yeah, I reckon a constant drip feed of Morphine so he can put up with his bosses' hairbrained schemes.

I always thought they used the character 'Grimer' as a [very] small parody to Lord of the Rings - seen as the Grimer on there is like a slimy, manipulating, obedient-but-cowardice character (as seen on the movie) like STC's version Anyway, here's just a little drawing I did ages ago [sorry about the poor quality again ^^; ^^;] You'll know what I mean for those who've got the issue, hehe:

Does he even have one?! I need reminding... because the LOTR guy is Grima Wormtongue... Anyways yeh, although Grima presumably used to be loyal to Rohan and was tempted by Saruman.

Wormtongue isn't his surname. I'm pretty sure that his name is just Grimer.

Apparently he was named as Grimer Wormtongue in issue 178.
Oh, and in issue 240 of StCO's Data Zone, he's named that too.

Only in the data zone, due to editorial ineptness. The name is not canon (because how lame a rip-off would that be?!)
