Was gonna buy this game as I heard it had Lord Zedd in it, and you could play as the original Power rangers. But I decided I' better check if Tommy was a playable character first. I assumed he would be as he was the most popular Ranger by far and has been in the most series. Everyone knows who Tommy is. So imagine my shock, fury and downright rage at finding he's not in it. I can't believe they excluded him. It dosen't make sense and I am really pissed off at it. I'm so glad I didn't buy it now

The fact that you actually considered paying money for a game about the Power Rangers concerns me.

I remember having the game based on the movie on my MD. What the hell possessed me to pick it over any of the Streets of Rage games, I will probably never know.

I am a self confessed Power Rangers fanboy I dunno why but I love every series up until Turbo. Anything after just sucks Same In Space ain't so bad. And Lost Galaxy and Mystic Force and parts of other seasons. The problem is while we have grown up, Power Rangers target audience hasn't. And I've heard vaguely of this game however I know very little about it. A real PR game should involve a massive sandbox city and the ability to play as anyone of the rangers while taking on missions to save the populace. The effort it would take to make such a game work and actually be interesting holds back any chance of such a thing happening.

LOOK AT THE AMAZEMENT. Again, no green/white ranger but this could be forgiven as he might be an unlockable character or the game was made before he was introduced. Lost in Space was ok I guess but I didn't like the complete shift in Rangers, same reason I haven't liked the later series. I was pleased to see they have moulded the universes and done crossover episodes, even at one point bringing Jason back into the show. I was also happy at Tommy being reintroduced, but for the most part I haven't liked the premise of some series. SPD and Light Speed Rescue annoyed me because I grew up with the Power Rangers being secret heroes who save the world from plastic baddies not an almost military organization. That just put me right off.

It just occured to me that was a pretty invalid statement. The same could be said for STC and Sonic. All the years STC was published it's main fanbase was pretty much the same age level as Power Rangers yet it managed to keep the same fanbase. Although STC stayed one consistent series, whereas Power Rangers has completely "morphed".

But STC did improve and grow up slightly, if only in looks and style. From around issue 20 onwards STC was already into it's swing and the only thing that sets it apart from later issues is the improved art and story crossovers. As a comic STC could and probably did dynamically change as it's fanbase grew older however it always had great storytelling at it's core even from the beginning. In a different way, in all the years PR has been around it's always targeted the same audience because that is what sells it. It's storytelling has always been quite basic only pushing a little something new each time and only being heavy on the "evil monster wants to destroy (not kill) people but the rangers will always save the day". For example one of the closest things I've seen to a love story recently (which young boys the show is aimed at would detest), was in Mystic Force when Madison told Nick "No you can't give up, not you" which anyone watching would have obviously seen leaning into love but it had to be hidden in the story as not to appear too obvious. And sometimes a good attempt at storytelling is held up by the fact that it's for PR. Another example is that there has to be a series of character building episodes in each season usually completely unrelated to the plot, where a character does something and is shown to have a flaw which they must overcome by the episode's end. Another is the clip show episodes which most seasons seem to have to help new watchers catch up, but seeing as PR is usually pretty easy to jump into mid-season and get what's going on (I did it for Operation Overdrive) it seems pretty unnecessary. OK, so maybe I'm over analysing this however I think my point is far from "invalid": PR is a show aimed at a particular audience and although the acceptable content for such an age range can change over time it's only gradual and most of the differences between seasons are usually only cosmetic.

Fair point, but there was decent story telling and character development in the original Power Rangers series. "Green With Evil" "Green Candle" and "White Light" prove this. Also, there was an episode of Power Rangers Zeo in which Kimberley tells Tommy she has found someone new, which strikes me as rather mature for a kids show. As for jumping in mid season I half agree but again, the later series piss me off anyway. If you had said you had jumped in halfway through Mighty Morphin or Zeo and caught the gist I'd have asked if you knew why Rocky,Aisha and Adam replaced Jason,Trini and Zack or why Kat replaced Kimberley. If you had said Zeo, I would ask if you knew why they had their Zeo powers. The thing about Mighty Morphin to Turbo is it had consistent characters, and very few changes so I regard it as one canonical series. The problem with the later series is they all have new characters and timelines so it's hard to keep a history going when they change more often.

Also, in Time Force, there was this whole story about how the red rangers dad was destined to die, and all that.
I might buy this game, if you can mix and match teams and different rangers. Don't think you can, though.

The white ranger is unlockable a little later on It's the White Tiger Ranger from Wild Force. Not the White Ranger with a Tigerzord from Mighty Morphin

Don't think you can, though. One of the Power Rangers did die. I think it was in Lost Galaxy, but when I heard about it I was tempted to start watching again as I felt the series might be improving again. But the later series put me off it again.

First off, Zordon and Karon died. Karon got better.
Leo's brother appeared to die in Lost Galaxy. He later returned, possessed by a psychotic ranger.
Then, the original Pink Galaxy Ranger died. She got better.
Then, the original Time Force Red appeared to die, and was stated as such. He, also, got better.

It's the White Tiger Ranger from Wild Force. Not the White Ranger with a Tigerzord from Mighty Morphin I meant in that screenshot that someone quoted. Although now that I think about it that's the SNES game, and I'm not 100% about that. The two for the megadrive had Tommy as unlockable. It won't be the White Ranger I don't think because by that time Rocky, Adam and Aisha had replaced Jason, Zack and Trini (I think). Possibly be the Green Ranger, I recall him being unlockable in the MD version
