[quote author=" Waffles" source="/post/455654/thread" timestamp="1300573159" In my mind the main cast have an American accent. Must be since I'm American, plus because every continuity has them with one; plus Sonic is very American technically so.. Yea. [/quote] That's funny because in my mind all the characters from the games have a thick Japanese accent, and all the original characters sound like Nigel Kitching, except the females, who sound like Nigel Kitching on helium No, but seriously, good question. I guess it changed depending on the time period. Early on I imagined Sonic and Tails and Robotnik with their with their AoStH voices, (especially easy for Robotnik because the style of his character model through most of the comic's run). Porker sounded, unimaginatively, like Porky pig. Amy sounded like your stereotypical bimbo from any given serial from a less enlightened time (this would change when she got herself a crossbow and started being useful though). I don't even remember what Johnny sounded like to me that far back. Later on as I got to know the characters more I assigned them my own voices, according to what I felt appropriate to their persona. It's hard to say what "accent" they had though. A few people have said that they heard the characters speak in *their* accent, but the thing about me is I left my home country just early enough that I never fully picked up the local accent, but just late enough that British accents always seemed foreign to me, despite living among them. Then came Sonic Adventure and I started imagining the cast using their voices from Sonic Adventure, where applicable. These days I've gone back to using my own created voices. I wouldn't be able to tell you what accent they use though.

Yeah, I assumed there was probably a cheat code too, just never learned it because why bother?! I always figured that whatever was happening when I pressed down on the cart, it was triggering what would normally happen when you entered the cheat code. I know how strange this all sounds, but honestly, if anyone doubts me, I'll film me doing it and put it online.

What follows was something I originally wrote for the blog on my website. I'll spare you guys the implicit plug by refraining from including a link to that, just know that the blog post was written with a broader audience than just Sonic fans in mind, so some time is spent explaining things that many people here would likely already know. I've highlighted those parts in yellow in case you want to skip over them, but they're there anyway in case you want a recap. Spoilers for Sonic Adventure.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Probably a coincidence.
But you know what? I wish it was deliberate. That would be hilarious.

I usually say that Sonic 2 is my favorite game because of the 2 player, which I really enjoy. Sonic 3 and Knuckles 2 player on the other hand is terrible. Although some of the music tracks are pretty cool as are some of the stage graphics, the multiplayer gameplay isn't really up to snuff. If we're talking single player campaigns only then yeah, Sonic 3 and Knuckles comes out on top.
Also I know I'm not in the majority in this but I LOVE the special stages in Sonic 2. They are my favorite special stages in the entire franchise, including the more obscure ones from lesser known games. I'm serious. I genuinely enjoy playing them, and not just because of the graphics.
Though having said that, from the perspective of a kid from a poor family who could barely afford a Mega Drive in the first place, it doesn't matter if the designers intended for Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles to be one game, nor if they can lock on and flow seamlessly into each other: if they cost the same as two games, then they're two games.

Well, that would make more sense because usually cheat codes are activated by pressing buttons, implying that said cheat codes were put there deliberately by the programmers.
But this isn't that. You literally touch none of the Mega Drive's intended button inputs and just kinda press down on the cartridge slightly. That's the best description I can give. It's weird. I don't know if it's some kind of glitch or it was deliberately designed that way... though granted I don't know HOW they would design the game that way without changing the physical hardware of the cartridge. But at the same time it still seems weird even if it IS a glitch.

I have a feeling a few people already know what I'm going to say. I was actually surprised to find that I couldn't see a thread already about this when I searched for it...
The Sonic 3D level select screen... it appears when you slightly nudge the cartridge while it's in the console.
This is not a rumor I've heard. This is not something a friend of a friend told me. This is something I discovered when the game was new, and it has worked consistently ever since.
Oh sure, you will occasionally have to try nudging it in a few different directions before the screen appears... but a few tries is generally all it takes. That screen will always reliably appear just by pressing down on the cart a bit. I've even heard tell that it will also work if you slightly press the Mega Drive's reset button...
Can someone let me know if this has happened to them too, just so I know I'm not crazy? Or better yet, can anyone explain WHY this happens? It seems completely unreal. Like something a kid with a poor understanding of electronics/computer technology would make up. But I've pulled it off successfully MANY times.
This was a copy of the PAL version for the Sega Mega Drive to be clear. I have no idea if this would work with other regions of the game.
PS: I've just noticed this would probably be better off in "Sonic's World", wouldn't it? Sorry, my mistake.

I'd be interested in buying all of them if that's on the cards. Where would you be shipping from?

So as the title suggests, I recently installed Sonic Mega Collection Plus for my PC (bought legitimatly), and I keep getting blue screen errors. Sometimes sporadically, sometimes when I shut down. I've tried reinstalling, but it doesn't work. Any ideas?
Is this a common problem? Or at least a known one? Are there any specific drivers I might need to install?
I have a fairly recent version of Direct X (I try to keep everything on my computer up to date, but I'm not an expert on what's the newest and the greatest when it comes to computer software/hardware), and as far as I know my computer can handle it.
I would list more information on my computer, but I always forget how to find that kind of thing out. I will take a picture of the error screen and post it here the next time I get one though (if that'll help that is).
