"I nicked his briefcase!" Okay, a little off topic there.....But who remembers the Spice Maidens? The final Captain Plunder took the piss out of the evil ones dominating the charts at the time.

Maybe they don't count as pop culture, but the Z Monkeys issue and The Bulk were obvious mickey-takes/homages to X-Men and the Hulk. That Eldorado line was pure class, even when I was 7 it totally cracked me up! Oh, who could forget Mr Blobnik!

There were a lot of "homages" in that run set in the Special Zone, though mostly at Lew Stringer's hand. Nigel K had set him up with the Fundamental Four, the Justice Brigade (obviously a tribute to Kitching's own Light Brigade ) and the Bruise Brothers, so Stringer followed suit with the Indestructable Bulk, Insect-Guy (with the hilariously huge safety warning) and the Z-Monkeys.

"Bulk" was just the Incredible Hulk with the colours inverted (Hulk is - usually - green with purple trousers; Bulk is purple with green trousers)... I don't know what Krunk looks like, but it sounds like the same logic may have been applied.

I don't see the connection.
Beyond maybe Felix the Cat. Which is certainly a tenuous one...

Simpsons the best comedy relief in a comic ever! ;D My two favourite moments. When Knuckles takes them on the Floating Island too find a Ghost ship, when they find the Idol, Simpsons eyes pop out of his head and Knuckles is standing right next too him going >.> The other is that bit in a Plunder story where he leapt out from behind a Barrel clad in Ninja Gear, then clouts the Captain on te Nut instead of a Random Sailer they where trying to get >_<, can't remember the words, but it was damm hillarious.

Has anyone noticed the Hulk cameo in Issue 177 (Part 3 of the Chaos Series, after Johnny dies)? It's on page 2, a comic underneath an Issue of StC in Sonic's bedroom.
There's also a poster in the background tha looks a little like Judge Dredd and a Megadrive on the floor.

Yes, I have noticed that many times. I've also seen a 'Sonic the Comic' in his bedroom with Chuck (from Decap Attack) on the front cover.

Erin the human Sonic ("Sonic the Human") had a Mega Drive too. And a model of Optimus Prime, I believe. The lad had good taste.

Look closer and you'll see there's an awful lot of stuff in that room... A Strontium Dog figure, some McMahon posters, a copy of Jack Kirby Collector, a Star Trek model, a rubix cube, a dinosaur toy, a "The Daily Lie" newspaper with a Posh and Becks story, a Thing figure, a game boy, an artist's board, and books on (Steve) Ditko, (Jack) Kirby, (Mick) McMahon and (Herb) Trimpe. Richard Elson's pad, pretty much

It was the "Veg-Heads" or something like that...*thinks* Early #100s I think. A load of vegetables mutated, and their leader was a potato called King Edward ( : Agent Harry Mole of OOER (Outer Ordinary Events Research) ( : And the farmer was a bull of some sort. I just remember him charging a couple of the veggies and yelling "GET ORF MY LAAAAAAAAAND!" Which was kinda funny.
