Apologies for diverting this response from the "Maria Robotnik" thread and introducing it as a new topic, yet I did not want to divert the discussion too severely from the original question there, so I'm creating a new thread for theorising upon the enigmatic Death Carrier.
I certainly hope that the Death Carrier does not possess some absurd format of 'supreme cannon', because that is a horrendously clichéd notion - a frequent criticism I detect others levying against the Death Egg is that it was simply an imitation of the Death Star, and dominating cannons have been present upon fictional spacecraft ever since the introduction of Space Ship Yamato!
I would much prefer the Death Carrier, rather then being a dull, bloated specimen of a gargantuan strato-cruiser, to be the evolution of the fell and maleficient, isolated tower of malignance. Consider - an awe- and terror-inspiring monument to wrath, rancour, and despicable machinations, with vessels brimming with mechanical travesties and a variety of organic collaborators of either the deluded, the gullible, or those eager to derive a measure of power by allying with the new threat streaking from its launch bays to all Zones of Mobius.
Such action is extending the insidious, paralysing tendrils of contamination and perversion, and wreaking strife, discord and havoc in an insuppressible and unpredictable manner. And within the centre of this lumbering titanic construiction of steel and megatel, within the most exclusive and secluded sanctum conceivable, we can view the pernicious arch-mallicant, the intellect and consciousness manipulating, with expert dexterity, the D.R.A.T. terrorist atrocities, the savage viral attacks wrecking international computer networks, and the brutal and atrocious raids...
...The indefatigable Dr. Zachary, with even the most apparently random and unco-ordinated of attacks and murders all components of a complex skein pursuing his unfathomable agenda... surely this would be a much more evocative and potently emotional scene?
What are your opinions upon the Death Carrier? What does it consist of? Are 'The Syndicate' the only crew? How on Mobius could Dr. Zachary ever develop it undetected? Is he supported by a currently-unrevealed third party? This thread could conceive some quite interesting plot threads for the future...

Ahh Nuts to that, Give a fricken huge cannon already, and have it transform into a huge butt kicking robot with a personality and a heart, call it Fred and have it fall in love with one of the main character and have some kids ;D "SHOT!"

While Omega's idea of a cross between Gamera and every giant robot in japan ever sounds highly entertaining and will probly have its own series and be circulating fansub distribution any day now......
I have to Agree with Rob here.
Giant cannons of doom are fun, but they kind of have a limited range of ablities. Rob's proposal sounds far more evil, and consequently FAR more fun!
MWUAHAHAHA!

I always figured the Death Carrier was one of Robotniks' unfinished projects that Zachary fixed up.
I agree about the mega cannon. Though it would look cool. What exactly would it be firing at?
As for whether the Syndicate are the only crew, and about a mysterious benefactor. I can only say hmm...

Now I'm bloody hooked. Mysterious benefactor? Other members? ;D I can only grin with anticipation. Can't wait. Though I agree with the guy up top. No cannon. Unless its an ARK Eclipse Cannon.

I imagined it to be one humongous badnik processing plant.... and a dropship of sorts. ((i think there was a another carrier that Robotnik had in early StC... the First part of the Sonic Terminator storyline)). A ship that size could easily store enough grunts to round up numbers of mobians. And the capacity for producing thousands of badniks...
Rob's bit about "...an awe- and terror-inspiring monument to wrath, rancour, and despicable machinations, with vessels brimming with mechanical travesties and a variety of organic collaborators of either the deluded, the gullible, or those eager to derive a measure of power by allying with the new threat streaking from its launch bays to all Zones of Mobius.", makes my spine tingle ;D
And development of this could of taken place easily. Remember when Mobius and Shanzaar merged? It created new zone that nobody previously on Mobius had seen, and even Sonic wasn't able to discover them all. Some of the were filled with fantastic technology (one Time Zone story has Sonic and Amy compete in a space race, taken from that story) their capabilites looked to be extremely impressive (and advanced, considering space races ;D), so what would of prevented Zachary from being bale to develop a vessel that size undetected? He may of been able to manipulate people into funding the construction, and as it's true purpose hasn't been revealed yet, they still remain in the dark about what they've created.
but... as long as some enormo-cannon isn't attached, or it has some cheesy self-destruct mode that gets deactivated 1 second before, i'll be very happy with what happens concerning it. Hopefully this'll be something comparabel to the Death Egg saga

((i think there was a another carrier that Robotnik had in early StC... the First part of the Sonic Terminator storyline)). Yep. It was the Winged Fortress. I wrote it into my stories I used to write as the launch site for Robotnik's Eggcarrier! The Winged Fortress was 3000 miles long and just floated around above the clouds. Funny thing is, it was never seen again. It never got destroyed so logic suggests that its still up there, with loads of very old badniks on it just waiting to be lead!!! Ed. Story. Use the Winged Fortress. Do it. ;D

While in wasn't actually referring to the Wing Fortress (i was talking about a StC creation, not something from the game), it does make you wonder what happened to it! It can't of just 'gone missing' or crashed somewhere with no announcement... bring it back... you know you wanna ED ;D

Sonic and Tails infiltrated it, using a very early Bi-Plane, in Issue 6-7 I think. One of the very early ones. I got it at home I have. The cover and backcover have fallen off, and the pages are crumpled, but its still okay.

He meant "not from STC" as in not created specifically for STC. He wasn't referring to the Wing Fortress, he was referring to the ship which lands in the Emerald Hill Zone and begins rounding up citizens. This happens in the first part of the Sonic Terminator. Sonic and Co go in to attack, they get captured on the ship and then Captain Plunder and the Mystic Cave Pirates show up and bail them out.

Even if things got confused about meaning, the winged fortress is still there, with possibly a whole army of old badniks, and therefore animals trapped inside it. Come on Ed! Use the thing, the story is easy, Sonic would want to try and save all those animals up there.
