HAHA! I have used the T-virus to reanimate this thread! Cue zombie snarling and ravenous flesh-chewing. Okay, I went to see this film knowing that it wouldn't be all that amazing, but I consider myself a patron of action cinema and anything based off a video game franchise. I dunno if any one cares about RE enough to need spoilers, but just in case (I'll try not to give away everything)... Alice - During the prologue, she has her funky, ridiculous powers and a posse of clones. However, all her clones get killed and she loses her powers when she confronts Wesker. YAY! Of course, even without them, she still kicks a lot of ass. Claire - She's lost her memory and is very much like Alice was in the first film. When we first see her again, she's being controlled by an Umbrella device (that thing Jill had on her in RE5). Chris - Has no STARS background, of course, but has some paramilitary history. Got locked up in a jail cell during the zombie uprising. Wesker - Sadly, Wesker's awesomeness factor is greatly diminished in this film. He saved himself by injecting himself with the T-Virus, but doesn't turn undead and sort of turns out like Alice with super-strength and the like. He mutates somewhat later on and these big ugly mandibles come out of his mouth. Zombies - Once again, they're only referred to as 'undead' or 'things'. They seem to be able to run in this film somehow. And sadly, once again, you don't see them rip anyone apart. Majini - These aren't the Majini we know from RE5, they're just a zombie mutation. These guys lurk in the sewers beneath Los Angeles where they mutated ("due to exposure to toxic waste, radioactive run-off and good ol' American faeces"). Executioner - There's NO explanation behind this guy, he's just there. Goddammit, Anderson! Other than all that, the action was pretty cool and there were a couple of bits that made me jump, but no major improvements. But then, the only improvement would be an ending that doesn't leave a possibility for a sequel... and we don't even get that.

I've done a little hunting into trailers, leaked videos and reviews from more independant and reliable folk (Like Angry Joe sort of level) more out of morbid curiosity.
I haven't seen a single thing to tell me this movie looks anything other than the worthless piece of cinema history that really should not have gotten past it's first film at all. Every scene I've seen is just mindless "slo mo and 3D is cool guys!" with no content, no style, no dramatic tension and definitely no acting. Not even hammy action acting.
I cannot stress enough to avoid. Don't fund this. The entire series is just a fanfiction with a budget and featuring the biggest Mary Sue I've ever seen. "Oh she's better with guns than everyone else and she's really sexy! Oh and she can also do kung fu really well! And she has psychic powers! And she's more important than the series' biggest characters! And the plot is all about her!"
Urgh...Resident Evil...please go back to that Leon Kennedy CGI thing again...I'd rather see it's mediocre quality dredged up than this garbage.

Jesus, she's nude on the internet, just look at that. It's less morally risible than watching dirge like these films

I was lent the first two by a mate at work aaaand, I think I'll stick with the games. The plot of the films wasn't exactly stellar, and I find the games far creepier. I don't think Mila Jovovich is particularly hot either. So, I probably won't be seeing this tbh.
Edit: Plus, the trailer reeks of exactly what Retro said about slowmo and 3D too.

Went to see this last night, it proved perfectly adequate entertainment. I was pleasantly surprised by how many elements from 5 they managed to get in.
Also, astonishingly, Jovovich didn't get naked, which is surely a first for her. They even had a bit where she was about to have a shower but was interrupted prior to disrobing! Remarkable.

Jesus, she's nude on the internet, just look at that. It's less morally risible than watching dirge like these films The only reason she even exists in these films is because she's married to the [censored]ing director. Paul W.S Anderson. The only man who can compete with Uwe Boll at making [censored] video game adaptions.

No way. No one ever has or will produce cinematic excrement quite like Uwe Boll.

No way. No one ever has or will produce cinematic excrement quite like Uwe Boll. Look up Tommy Wiseau's "The Room" or "After Last Season." Uwe Boll has improved as well, believe it or not.
