At last, there is solid evidence of this film's existence. Enjoy... or wretch, depending on how you feel about this franchise.

...was there actually a single zombie in that entire trailer?

...was there actually a single zombie in that entire trailer? There's a few seconds of her running from a roof full of them and then slicing some. And the big guy with the hammer is probably one. But who needs to be tempted with zombies or plot when you can be tempted with THE CAMERA SYSTEM. I'm sad that Rob's next House Of The Dead strip won't come out until after this film, cos that means it can't piss on it.

Ooh, a proper majini with freaky mouth tentacles and everything! This will be [censored] and I will go and see it anyway. So yeah. And the big guy with the hammer is probably one. residentevil.wikia.com/Executioner_Majini

I couldn't really tell if the crowd in that part of the trailer were zombies or not since that bit was really short. They seemed grey enough to be undead but it looked like they were running to me. (Maybe the zombies have evolved/mutated?) And I hope they have a reasonable explanation as to why we have Majini in this film. On a slightly more positive note... Wesker! YAY!

Don't get your hopes up Devo. He'll probably turn out crap just like every other character and monster that got imported into these awful awful movies.
So yeah... will be total rubbish but the question will be will it worse, slightly less bad or just as equally bad as what has come before.

Looks like it'll be adapting number 5. I feel this is a good move, because I didn't like the fact that Extinction was just a continuation of the movie franchise with no relevance to any of the games whatsoever. The first two were at least adaptions of the games.
It might be alright. Like with all the Resident Evil movies, they're okay popcorn flicks if you just don't call it Resident Evil.
Except Extinction. That was gay.

I quite liked Extinction. It was so silly I sort of got swept up in it.
Also, annoying comic relief died.

The guy got bitten by a zombie and what did he do? HE KEPT IT SECRET AND ENDANGERED THE WHOLE CONVOY! THAT SILLY PRAT! DX

The one and only thing I liked in Extinction was the scene with the crows. Until Alice came along and ruined it that is.

Can someone explain to me why Alice is the main character and exists at all, when the games have a metric ton of characters?

Executive Meddling is usually the cause for unneeded and crappy characters. Babylon 5 had a similar problem in its second season with Warner Bros. wanting a hotshot pilot character but JMS thank god killed him off.
No such luck here though. Although she did die... and get better.

I'm not sure if Alice is executive meddling. I'd hope she's not, because who needs to make up "female character who is badass" for a Resident Evil film? It'd be like saying "let's make up a fast guy to be the lead of this Sonic the Hedgehog film".

Milla Jovovich is married to Paul Anderson, which may or may not go some way towards explaining the whole Alice thing...
Anyway, I'll be avoiding this one like the plague. The last three were absolute [censored]e, and I really doubt this will change my opinion.

If memory serves, they didn't introduce any characters from the games 'til the second film.

Now if only we had a logical reason as to why he's such a [censored] director?
Not including the Licker and Zombies or course.

Well, yeah. And if you want to get really pernickety they mention something about using Temporary Love Interest for "the Nemesis project" after he gets infected.
But it's okay because he overcomes it through the POWWAHHHH of LURRRRVE (this is why Apocalypse is the worst film of the series, fact fans).

I would accept the presence of Care Bears if they got eaten by zombies.

Or just replace the zombies with Care Bears. Or Zombie Care Bears.
