Eh..... a lot of good series goes the way of the axe.
And, as some conventional wisdom has it, better to be cancelled early, than to be mediocre in later sages.

Heard about this a while ago.
I was sad. Then I found out Nova will be in it. And I was happy. Then I remembered we get Hulk-lite instead of the Green Goblin. Then I cried.
Still, at least we have that radio play thing where it crossed over with Gargoyles.

I wasn't even aware they were making a new Spider-Man series. I saw a glimpse of some rubbish MTV one a couple of years ago, heard no more about it and assumed that was it over and done with.
The news of an Ultimate Spidey adaption though has me happy happy. Will definitely have to keep an eye out for it.

I enjoyed Spectacular Spider-Man. Too bad if it has to go the same way as the 1990s series (which was brilliant when you're five and hilarious when you're eighteen).
Was the MTV one the kind of CGI-style one or was it Spider-Man Unlimited?

I thought everyone had given up on this series after its second season, when it was pretty much guaranteed not to be getting a third?
The time for mourning SSM passed a while ago.

I thought everyone had given up on this series after its second season, when it was pretty much guaranteed not to be getting a third? The time for mourning SSM passed a while ago. Garunteed how, exactly? True, after the rights went back to Marvel, the ongoing silence of wether it was going to continue it or not was rather disheartening, but it making a comeback was always a distinct possibility, provided ratings and sales increased overtime. This, however, is pretty much a nice way of saying that Spectacular is gone for good. After this, I doubt Marvel would even give it a second look.

Rundown sort of went as follows: Fans: "Man, Spectacular Spider-Man is awesome. Good second season, when can we get a third?" Marvel: "Meh. We don't have plans for one." Fans: "W-what?! Greg Weisman, is this true?!" Weisman: "Well, the team's been disbanded and there's no sign a comeback whatsoever. Live in hope and all that." Fans: "Nyrooo~n" And then everyone just sort of accepted that it wasn't coming back.

I was informed that a third season was in the planning stages, and a list of villains was already agreed upon.

And as I more or less said before, I didn't think that was cause to believe it was gone for good because there was always a chance of its popularity increasing and Marvel taking notice. But I doubt they're going to run two Spidey cartoons with the exact same premise running alongside each other; it'd seem a little silly. So, yeah, please understand at least why I'm a little bit miffed.

Well, then, I have no problem believing it'll be good and I imagine a good many more will have any fears quashed by this news.
