My game of E3 so far was Rayman Origins. Ditto, very excited about this. It's about time a new Rayman Game was made, looks good too.

It sucks that it's episodic, but I'll take all the Rayman I can get.
Edit: Up to and including in the arse, obviously.

I laughed at the Rayman Origins trailer. Awesome. New Rayman. However, wut. I'm not seriously complaining about this, but in the first game, Rayman seemed like a normal denizen. Retconned/changed in the second game to have been created by Polokus. Fair enough. Now he was created by Nymphs? Make up your mind, Ubisoft!

Hard for me to really call on what I think has been my game of the show, there's a load of contenders.
Halo Reach looks awesome what with more gameplay types like space fighter combat and squads of Spartans. I just wonder if that will continue to be as varied or if thats just the one oppurtunity. Looks solid and dependable.
Gears 3 didn't really show anything massively surprising other than a few nice new weapons, enemies and small mechanics. 4 player co-op is great as is tossing weapons to a friend in need. Again, solid and looking reliably good but nothing thats made me go GAME OF THE SHOW yet. Maybe that new "beast" mode they spoke of.
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood seems to be taking the AC2 experience and ramping it up significantly, expanding and changing it. However I was disappointed to not see any multiplayer footage, considering thats the big thing on everyones mind as to how it will work. Can't call it without that.
Medal of Honour is not game of the show. But I do have to denote that it was a very brave move to attempt a 24 player live demo on stage. That could have gone badly wrong. Bravo for taking the chance and succeeding.
Rayman Origins looks gorgeous in motion, more than likely gonna pick that one up. Hard to really call other than it looks lovely. I'd love to get a feel for it's gameplay before making a decision that it's not just eye candy.
Although I've never agreed with Crysis/Crysis 2's gameplay look. I always find myself amazed at what they do in terms of technology. If this show was based on technical achievement alone they'de have won it already.
I'm gonna wait before making a full decision and let them settle in.
Trailer of the show is easily the new Star Wars Old Republic one though. Might have just been CGI cinematic stuff, but damn, that was an awesome little movie.

The clue is in the name "Origins". Quite. It's just that I thought that his origins had already been explained. Edit: I need to stop complaining about everything, for [censored]'s sake. I wasn't really complaining, more orbserving, but Jesus, can I not just be happy with a new Rayman installment? Forget I said anything, new Rayman, fantastic, looking forward to it.

Either way, Sonic 4 looks an increasingly dire effort next to this.

Loving the painted backgrounds and overall sense of fun the new Rayman's showcasing. Very nice.
Also: is dat sum Betilla the fairy? That's an easter egg if ever I saw one.

Personally, my favourite game from Ubisoft's conference was the new Driver game. I was absolutely in love with the original, and sad as all [censored] when Atari completely ruined it and drove it into the ground.
Seeing it back in the hands of a capable developer and giving it the time and effort it deserves makes me very happy.
I don't think I could call a 'Game of E3' yet, though. A lot of the games I was looking forward to for the 360 were multiplatform titles and thus haven't been touched on at all yet. I'd really have to wait and see how they fare in another conference/on the show floor to be able to make my mind up there, really. Although, yes, the new Rayman game and Child of Eden were extremely impressive last night.

Well....Zelda was a big disappointment.
Hope they've got some more lined up here, because that just looked like Twilight Princess only brighter and with worse controls.
Edit - Actually. should probably clarify a little. A massive disappointment as an announcement and showing considering the big lead up. But still...really hasn't struck any chords.

The demo was a bit rubbish, but the trailer was a lot more inspiring. They still have what could be a year or more left of development, though, so I'd suspect any issues to be ironed out by then. DKC was by far the most impressive game of the show though. With Kid Icarus up second - but kinda disappointing that it was the only 3DS game revealed so far (and the graphics are very nice, but not exactly that much greater than the DS' current 3D abilities, really). Quite liked the Kirby game too. Cute as hell. Disappointed at the lack of general info for the 3DS, though. Though the system is very pretty and the developer support is great, no date, price or any real game demonstrations make it a bit... well, still very vapourwarey. Sitting watching the extra content on Nintendo hoping for a bit more, though.

Hmm...thinking overall...this wasn't that great a conference. Didn't help with the general dishonest spinning Reggie made about the Wii's "popularity" using invisible statistics and vaguely related facts. Not to mention the whole thing about Mario 64 apparently being the first game to bring us to the "3D world"? Go play a PC sometime, Reggie.
Donkey Kong looks cool, I'm guessing Wiiware. Kid Icarus, yeah big announcement but we really don't know how good or bad it'll be. Music was good though.
On Zelda again...ergh...I dunno. I'm not seeing anything in this thats making it stand out from the others much at all. Like it's played too safe...too standard. I loved Ocarina when I played it and since then whenever I've tried one it's just always felt too similar and crossing retreaded ground. I was hoping that chain might be broken but...oh well.
Overall, I'd say Microsoft's easily ahead in the "big" company conferences thus far. Lets see what Sony has for us.
If Kevin Butler is on stage that'd probably be enough for me to love it.

I think I agree with Retro on the Zelda game. Its such a shame, but its looking pretty bland. It looked like Miyamoto himself had trouble actually getting it to work. Rayman looks good, looking forward to the new golden sun.

Okay so seriously, Sony just had a dig at "the opposition" costing $50 a year and then showed Playstation Plus to be the same service, only if you stop paying then they take everything you've downloaded away.

Sony's presentation was just so ultimately disappointing. The software wasn't great, the use of Move wasn't great - and didn't really set it apart from either the Wiimote or Kinect - and there wasn't really any big news outside of Valve being huge hypocrites when someone pays them enough money...
Did like having a look at Portal 2 though. Was kinda worth watching the two hours for.

Highly doubt money had anything to do with Valve. People exaggerate their comments a lot. They've always said they'de release on PS3 if it became feasible.
It's now feasible and thus they have. Couple with Steam support on PS3 and it becomes clear it's easily the best version for consoles.
Still won't sell compared to the PC version, this is a Valve game afterall. But it's a huge plus for Sony.

Sony's conference was just a bore. The best part of the conference was Butler telling hardcore gamers to stop [censored]ing about casuals, and that's not saying much.
There wasn't enough new games announced and it mostly felt like a third party stroking. A cross-over between Sly, Ratchet and Jak would be awesome given it wasn't made by a [censored]ty developer (Nihilistic) and made specifically as a gimmick to pull fans towards the move. No thanks. By the way, where the hell was Last Guardian?!
Also, Ocarina of Time being remade for the 3DS!

Couple with Steam support on PS3 and it becomes clear it's easily the best version for consoles. Still won't sell compared to the PC version, this is a Valve game afterall. But it's a huge plus for Sony. I dunno. It's definitely a good thing that PS3 players can get it, I have absolutely nothing against the fact they're developing for the PS3 now - it's just that people claim Valve to be some massive second coming company with loads of integrity, and this announcement gives that a serious knock. I guess it's just more annoying that no-one will call them out on it because of the fanboy reverence they get. Overall, I think of the Big 3, Microsoft had the better conference/show overall. Nintendo had a pretty good showing, with a much stronger software display than they've had in years (we'll just casually ignore Wii Party, kthx), but their big 3DS announcement was dulled somewhat by the lack of software on show for it. I get that they may be cautious of the fact that they can't get the 3D effect across to viewers, but more trailers like the Kid Icarus one would not have hurt in the slightest. Effectively, they made what could have been a fantastic reveal into a bit of a lukewarm one - but it was fantastic to finally see the new hardware at any rate. Sony's show was, as I said, a bit disappointing and dull - and far, far, far too quick to bull[censored] themselves up and [censored]-talk MS and Nintendo. It just made them seem immature and dishonest and wasn't really endearing. Although Kevin Butler was quite funny overall. Their new PSP ad campaign is yet another mess of a PR disaster with their little 'hip' black kid speaking out 'to his peeps on the street yo respec'. The software displayed was mostly not that interesting, but Medal of Honour and Killzone were never going to grab me, just as Gears and CoD didn't last night. Bit confused at them considering ModNation Racers and Invisimals among their new titles for this year, especially since Invisimals has been out for ages, but overall, their PSP software showing was at least stronger than Nintendo's. The real let down though, was Move. The controller just didn't appeal as anything much more than a more complicated Wii Remote and doesn't leave me with much enthusiasm that it will result in much more than prettier Wii Wagglefests. Maybe it could result in the opposite, pretty looking games with good wand motion control - but they certainly didn't show that today - the 'Scorcery' game was just plain embarrassing. Microsoft meanwhile, had a very impressive array of exclusive titles (though I'd have liked them to have covered multi-platforms at some point too) and demonstrated that Kinect works just as well as they claimed it did last year. The Kinect launch line-up is a bit weak, but the potential for a genuine change in gaming control is at least there, where it really isn't with the Wiimote or Move. Mostly I'm a fan of the fact that it combines sophisticated motion tracking, voice control and traditional controller control all into one package. Yes there are the rubbish casual games, and then the good casual games (like Child of Eden, om nom) - but at the same time, it allows for games to be played just as they normally are, but also to genuinely add to the experience by including the option for voice control, or stuff like head tracking. On the basis of Kinect living up to the promise of the technology (hardware wise at least, could have had better software... but I'll definitely be picking me up Kinectimals [cuuuuute]), I really have to say that MS did the better job of the lot. Especially since Nintendo couldn't even get 5 year old technology to work in a room of laptops and cameras that would have been totally and utterly expected and Sony just didn't really set the Move apart from the Wii at all. Plus, sneaking in the new Xbox (and the rather bold moves made with it concerning the release date, the price and the fact every member of the audience was getting one that day for free) made for not only a great piece of news, but a great show - which is half of what E3 is all about anyway. Now I'm just hopeful that we'll get to see a lot more from the show floor - ideally from Nintendo, as I really want to see a lot more of what the 3DS can do outside of the 3D part, especially since we now know from the Kid Icarus trailer that it's definitely got the processing power to pull off some very pretty stuff for a handheld. It definitely claws away at the differences between the DS and the PSP and is leaving the beleaguered old PSP looking quite long in the tooth now. I very much doubt we'll be walking away from next year's E3 without a new one.
