...and some other forthcoming DS/Wii stuff too. Full report here. tl;dr version: The 3DS is a nice bit of kit, irrespective of 3D The thumb slider is a delight The into-the-screen 3D effect is fantastic, the out-of-the-screen less so Metal Gear and Mario Kart were the best-looking games (also Resident Evil, although I suspect that was cutscene graphics rather than in-game) Ghost Trick is great, if basic Okamiden is exactly the same as Okami Super Scribblenauts is looking a bit dodgy Golden Sun 3 is a little fiddly Donkey Kong Country Returns is very nice Metroid is a little underwhelming Kirby's Epic Yarn is completely fantastic[/u]

Um...*thinks*
3D graphics, 2D playspace. Uses the Wiimote/nunchuck combo. Waggle 'em both to do a ground pound. Couldn't really hear the sound, so dunno about that. You start out as DK alone, Diddy gets freed from a barrel partway through the first level (dunno if it'll be something you have to do every level or what). Once he's freed, he tags along and you can use his rocket pack, a bit like Tails picking up Sonic in Sonic 3. The first level, at least, is laid out to promote flowing, unstopping movement as you jump from enemy to platform to springy flower and so on. Reminded me quite strongly of Jungle Beat. Enemies include pig things (?), frogs that inflate themselves to float up in the air and pillars that topple from the background to try and squish you. Hidden passages to be found (I only came across one, mind). Collect bananas and K-O-N-G letters, as ever. Fairly hard! The demo gave you five lives and it only took me about ten minutes to burn through 'em all. Mostly those frogs' fault.
That's about all I can remember, I'm afraid. It was a week ago that I went to try this lot out.

Errr...
I'm clicking on the link and getting a generic "403 Forbidden" message. :-\
Also, I'm intrigued as to why Super Scribblenauts is a bit dodgy. May you elaborate?

That's weird, it's working fine for me on two different computers. Try just going to www.absolutegadget.com and following the link from there. As for Super Scribblenauts, I couldn't get the supposed new d-pad controls for Maxwell to work. It's possible I was just being foolish, but I tried every combination of fiddling about I could think of, and it was still just the stylus control of the first one. Which was irritating.

Nope, still not working. At all. :-\ And cheers on the Scribblenauts comment. (I won't abbreviate the title for obvious reasons )

As cool as Samface's review was (and it's nice to see Nintendo finally got this preview event to the UK - it's only pretty much the last place to get it, but OHWELL), your website is horrid. :x It kind of makes it difficult to not only focus on the actual text (which isn't really formatted in the most appealing way, either) but also to really take the site seriously at all...
/offtopiccriticism.

Another 8 months yet before it hits U.K shelves. I am looking forward to it, but my wallet won't be amused. I'm gonna start shelling out for it as of January 2011.

I'd certainly like to get one, though my old DS has done me well. I hadn't considered updating from it before, it seemed pointless buying a whole new console for a slightly shinier screen, then a rubbish camera and downloadable games that don't interest me, or haven't done so far. But the 3DS looks really good.

Pfft, t'ain't my site. I just write for it on occasion. I don't think it's that bad, but I couldn't build a site to save my life, so hey...

Oh, I knew it wasn't your site, I was just being lazy in pronoun use. >> Also, it probably wouldn't bother almost anyone else, it's just a case of professional habit sneaking in I guess. :x

I know the feeling, I do web-design also. After you learn good and bad site design, it's hard NOT be critical of every site you find yourself on.
