Even though I was gone for a while, I'm a bit surprised that a thread was not started on this game.
Also ironic, since I'm not getting it, at least not yet. I didn't get the original Starcraft until the game was bundled with the expansion pack in a 'battlechest', so I'll be doing the same with this game. But from what I've seen of the campaign, the cinematics, the missions.... it all looks stellar. I'm hoping to try out the game at a local LAN shop soon.

I have mixed feelings about the campaign in SC2. I wouldn't call it a curate's egg, because it's more good than bad, but it does have a few glaring faults. The missions are all splendid with great variety in their objectives, the acting is top-notch, and while the hub area of the Hyperion isn't as expansive as I'd hope it'd be, it still has plenty going on.
Still, I'm not overly enamoured with the overarching story which ties the campaign together. I never liked the idea of Mengsk being pigeon-holed in the "Evil Emperor" trope, but if I could live with Star Wars I could live with that too... but apart from that, everything seems dispiritingly po-faced. Kerrigan in particular has been butchered, ranting about futility and oblivion and the advancing darkness like a My Chemical Romance album. Whatever happened to the "Queen [censored] of The Universe" that sassed her way out of Brood War?
