I've only seen Paranoia Agent from that list and if I'm honest, I thought it was boring and seemed to think it was more intelligent/deep than it actually was.
However, I've seen that his work has legions of fans. So I'm not going to hold my own personal opinion against the man's talent overall. Besides, as I said, I've not seen the rest of his stuff.
So all the same. A shame.

Perfect Blue is the only one of his works I've seen. Was good what I saw but like Retro, I don't see it as the brilliant masterpiece that lots of fans think it and his other work was.
Still I cannot deny his contribution the anime genre.
A great loss indeed.

Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers and Paprika are the ones I've seen, and they get better (IMO) as you go along that list. A huge shame. The obituary in the Guardian says that he was halfway through another film that's going to be finished off by his artists, so let's hope it's a suitable send-off.

I've seen Perfect Blue and Paprika, both of which were great. Kon-san, we hardly knew ye. R.I.P.
