He lasted a good while, but a sad loss all the same. His legacy will live forever though, just don't call him Shirley!

Truly a tragic loss. Fantastic actor, with brilliant comic timing who had a nack for being a straightman in any given situation. One of the greats of the era of good parodies, and a terrible loss.
RIP.

My memories of this man are few, so I think I'll have to purchase Airplane and the Naked Gun movies and relive his comical genius. RIP, Leslie.

I never found him funny as a comedy actor or engaging as a serious actor, nor do I enjoy any of his films, but I get the impression he'd be OK with that. Always seemed like a nice chap.

R.I.P What the [censored], man? Airplane is, objectively, the funniest film ever made and I fail to see how anyone can disagree.

I'm not really interested in defending my position, this isn't really the thread for it. Just paying respects.

Film I remember him most by is Spy Hard, as I think we taped that off the TV sometime in the 90's. Also Dracula: Dead and Loving It. Both really [censored], but funny films. RIP.

Damn, still, 82 is a good run, and I'm pretty sure he had a hell of a time doing it.
Bon voyage or whatever, Mr Nielsen.

I should dig out my Airplane and Naked Gun DVDs that I've never fully watched at some point.
Scary Movie 3 was on last night, so I read he was dead then looked up from my laptop and there he was on the telly.

R.I.P Leslie, you will be sorely missed. I shall get Airplane! in his honour.

Leslie Nielsen: Dead and Loving It Edit: Before anyone complains, bear in mind he'd probably love that gag

Real sorry to hear of this. He always seemed like a good bloke, even if you didn't find his films funny.

I was well shocked when I saw the news; I feel a Police Squad Marathon is in order. RIP Leslie Nielsen: Dead and Loving It Edit: Before anyone complains, bear in mind he'd probably love that gag Hahhaha! Awww - yeah, I think that is a fitting tribute! ;D

Leslie Nielsen: Dead and Loving It Edit: Before anyone complains, bear in mind he'd probably love that gag Second good one I've seen, amid all the Shirley quotes. Leslie Nielsen died in hospital last night. It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

I was really upset by the news last night. He was one of comedy idols, and by far one of the funniest men in acting. Even his autobiography, which was admittedly complete fabrications and jokes, was absolutely great. He'll be greatly missed.

For some reason, it never actually entered my head that Leslie Nielson could die. I mean, he's been old forever anyway, I think I just figured he'd found the secret of life and kept it to himself.
World's a sadder place without him.
