Is this not related to that Hellish Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni?
If so, stand in the corner and think about what you've done.
Edit: OH JESUS CHRIST IT IS AND I JUST LOOKED IT UP AND THIS WOMAN WAS FORCED TO EAT [On second thoughts, I'm not going to describe it here for fear of upsetting people. If you are squeamish, or of a nervous disposition, or... in fact, stuff it, if you're sane do not look this up.] FOR [censored]'S SAKES WHAT'S WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE

Ah yes, the now infamous paedo torture porn series that (almost) everbody on the forum hates with a burning passion. I'm sure the nation will highly anticipate it's UK release, where it'll be sold as part of a bundle with Battle Raper. I jest, of course. But really, what kind of creepy weirdo would be looking forward to a game like this?

Yes, I rather think you have. I am pretty certain yunelyon won't be insulted by my obviously hyperbolic post, but in case she is, I'm sorry and I didn't mean any offense. Oh, and don't actually stand in the corner. I loathe the "When They Cry" series. Perhaps I've missed the point, but from what I've seen, it's needless gore and torture in place of storytelling - apparently, at one point, a little girl lets herself be crucified and cut to pieces just because she likes someone? Something like that? They be twisted morals, son. I'd like to see why you like it. Break it down for me, why is it good?

Something like that? They be twisted morals, son. I'd like to see why you like it. Break it down for me, why is it good? The key words there being "from what you've seen". Also, hear say. Far be it from me to defend the most brutal content of the series, which doesn't really need to be there mostly. I watched the first few eps of Higurashi a while ago (about four episodes IIRC, comprising the first arc of the series), wasn't nearly as bad as some of the content I've heard about (admittedly, this will all come later in the series, which is the reason I stopped watching it when I did). It set up a rather intriguing sort of murder mystery story which turned subtly supernatural later on. It started off fairly comedically, besides from the partially obscured "warner" intro right at the start of ep 1, there was little in the way of violent content until the fourth episode. I did actually find myself be drawn into the narrative and enjoyed the increasing presence of danger and horror elements within. Like I said though, I've only stopped because they've ruined it later on with the content they've bizarrely seen fit to add later on into the series. I see the appeal of the story, but it's not really defendable to be honest.

People like Higurashi because it has, amongst other delights, scenes of children being tortured presented as titillation.
btw, what Shay is referring to is a character who is forced to eat a variety of her family's body parts. Cool, right? Dark, man.
I chose not withhold that, because, frankly, people need to be aware of what's being defended here.

I have done my research, and on Wikipedia, it reads like a normal murder-mystery, with supernatural elements. But every time I look up clips, I get either little girls maiming each other and appearing to, well, not enjoy it but accept it, or what madhair described above.
There are other horror movies and shows that have done worse, I'm sure - in fact, the Saw franchise, for example, makes a killing (so to speak) with horror similar to this, people getting killed in gruesome ways. But Saw expects a shocked or repulsed reaction from the viewer - taking into account the reactions of the girls and the vaguely BDSM undertones, Higurashi seems like it wants the viewer to be turned on by. I could be wrong, but when a little girl (I'm talking loli here, she can't be much older than 10) is having a knife plunged into her, and her only reaction is "If stabbing me is enjoyable, I'll let you enjoy yourself and stab me all you want!", I can't help but feel that this is vaguely sexual.
As it stands, these scenes don't so much put me off watching the show as they do make me want to take a shower.

You're not wrong. As I've said before, arousal is the show's only intention.

I am pretty certain yunelyon won't be insulted by my obviously hyperbolic post, but in case she is, I'm sorry and I didn't mean any offense. Oh, and don't actually stand in the corner. All right, I'm the one who overreacted. I apologise. At the time it just looked like an [censored] reply to a video which was merely "typical anime opening" and didn't really call for such a response. That's completely not it at all. In summarizing the story behind that scene; Shion had a crush on Satoshi, but one day the guy disappeared without a trace. Her response? Go crazy and kill everyone potentially responsible, including his little sister, who was a crybaby who constantly used him as a crutch. Hence she kidnaps, tortures and kills her as a form of revenge. At this point, Shion's gone well-off the deep end and has come to enjoy killing. Satoko takes a stand, however, and feels pity for the figure before her, rather then fear. Great storytelling? Not really. I've seen similar, and better done. But with that set-up, I found it pretty clear the author was aiming for a tradegy. Particularly since Shion promised to protect her. It's better to say I like aspects of it, namely the overall storyline, and how it draws you in with mystery and suspense. I'm a sucker for crap like that. Enough so that I can get past the grisly horror bits. Frankly, there are aspects of the series I don't like at all, hence why I don't really care much for it at best. The reason why I argued rather passionately in the past wasn't because I held any great love for the series, but because I felt certain the demographic got misunderstood.

Yeah! What an idiot would what that!? Oh no, wait, that's me! anyway no problem about Shay's comment. I know his style, I knew he was simply cracking a joke, but thanks for your support! About Umineko, I'm not really sure what I actually love about the series, BUT I LOVE IT! it's so darn complicated that makes my head expload, the style is absolutely dark and drammatic at times......THESE are probably some of the reasons I love it! But I'm definetly looking forward for the last episode of the series "Twilight of the golden witch". Anyway even if it's the same creator, Umineko has practecly NOTHING to do with Hicurashi

Honestly, we nearly take up a page ruining her thread, and she's just like "yeah, 'scool ". You're cool as a cucumber, yunelyon. Ach, okay, I've not actually watched either series, so I'll say no more on either of them beyond this: from the clips I have seen, I am INCREDIBLY put off both series. Peace out.

Yeah! What an idiot would what that!? Oh no, wait, that's me! anyway no problem about Shay's comment. I know his style, I knew he was simply cracking a joke... I was also joking. The post was supposed to be a reference to a British current affairs comedy show called 'Russell Howard's Good News'. For obvious reasons that was lost on you, so I apologise for that. Here's a brief clip of the bit I was referring to:

Yunelyon rules, Russel Howard sucks. I love how for all his anti-idiot "punch-lines" he writes for the News of the World. Well that was pointless. All I was doing was apologising and explaining a reference to Yunelyon she didn't understand so she didn't think I was making a personal slur on her character. Your opinions on Russell Howard are irrelevant (though I do agree somewhat with the whole irony about the NOTW writing).

Came across to me as if you were approving of a misunderstanding, and cutting me down in the process. It probably wasn't, but it could've been worded a bit better. I would've let it slide altogether if you hadn't started it with "Yunelyon rules", which seems to suggest she was right to take offence to me, and I wasn't going for that at all.
