The three best mechs that Eggman had personally piloted would, in no particular order, be:
1) The "final boss" mech of Sonic 3 because, unlike most of the other bosses, he could only take one hit at a time, needed to be hit to stop attacking, and could halt the SUPER SONIC transformation. Truly, a force to be reckoned with.
2) The F-Zone boss of Sonic Rush; while predictable in term of attack pattern, he could create shockwaves with his fists (which could prove to be the end for you later), shoot laser beams that make the ground explode... in rapid succession, and call upon electric generators in two ways. AND, in order to actually injure Eggman, you needed to attack the aforementioned fists while they're stuck in the ground (or, later on, wait ol' Ivo out), wait for him to go to the right side of the ship your fighting on, dodge another fistful of shockwaves (and hit said fist after the last groundpound), climb up the mech's arm (you have three chances to do (because he'll try to shake you off)), and hit the mech's face. Thankfully, the eighth and last hit doesn't require you to endure that gauntlet.
and 3) The mech used for the "Sonic/Sonikku vs Metal Sonic/Metaru/Metallix" fight in Sonic CD for three reasons: 1) it mostly stays out of Sonic's attack range, 2) touching Eggman or the laser his machine fires is an instant kill, and 3) while not as fast as Sonic or Metal its fast in its own right and flies progressively faster as the fight goes along.
