Okay, so I was going to make another thread about something else but then I remembered that it'd require some time input on my part and I should probably be doing something else.
This is both a self-expression thread and a suggestion thread: what songs do you stick on while working? I have some drawing to do and need some tunes because I like listening to stuff while drawing, and I'm curious as to what you listen to. It can be any genre - some of my work stuff is metal, some is ska, etc. I tend to have some simple rock/metal on, Judas Priest, Extreme, The Darkness, that kind of thing, but I also quite like The Barenaked Ladies, The Flaming Lips, wordless electro songs (need more of them so you'll be my favourite person if you can suggest one), that kind of thing for passive listening. My actual suggestion would be Urusei Yatsura, who are... well, they're crap, there's no nice way to say it, but for some reason I really enjoy them and they're nice and easy to stick on in the background. Also Macy [censored]ing Gray.

My music
<Colour> noise? Ambient sounds?
um... Video game soundtracks? D: ace combat 1/2, portal 2, deus ex mostly
edit: I really have trouble with music where people are singing lyrics tho. I find it immensely distracting.

The album "Hexophilia" by Jerry Schroeder. 8 tracks from Hexic HD, plus 8 extra tracks not featured in the game. Makes for really good background running.

That's two people in as many days who I now know like the Flobots. <3 I love 'em.
Not sure about game soundtracks, to be honest; they tend to not do much for me beyond the first couple of listens, with the exception of PPPPPP. I'll give 'em a shot though. besides my flatmates would never let me hear the end of it

If it involves military battles - Frank Klepacki's pieces from the Command & Conquer series If it involves one on one battles - Boss music, generally of the Sonic variety. Egg Dragoon gets me in that "holy crap this is a desperate battle" mode. If it involves carnage - Majin Buu's theme (Pink Demon Mix) by HalusaTwin. I can tune the violent music a lot easier I notice. It helps that I associate this music with certain things in my head, which psychologically seems to make it easier to draw such things. For more peaceful works, a particular favorite of mine is "Misty Lake" from Sonic and the Black Knight. Failing that, Chun-Nan Night from Sonic Unleashed. Those are just a few. It can be seen that Sonic music has a profound role in anything I do, but, hey, at least I didn't invoke Let My People Go.

As useless as this contribution is, I generally just liten to my Last.fm personal radio, since I haven't got access to my own music at the moment and I'm fussy when it comes to new music.
And as sad as it sounds, I sometimes listen to Segasonic Radio in the hope I can hear some of the good music from the series. It usually fails.
Also also, I don't actually work, so it's generally "music to write meaningless drivel on a wiki".

Also also, I don't actually work, so it's generally "music to write meaningless drivel on a wiki". sonicshift.wikia.com/wiki/Sonic_Shift_WikiI take offense at that! Wikis are a great way to get background without having to entirely do something. They even help one cheat on writing papers - just seize the URLs and use those as sources and those "no wiki allowed" elitist teachers suddenly are a-okay with it. As for radios in general: They can be a good idea. For one, they keep you from succumbing to "music changing syndrome," where one changes the song every minute or two on one's personal music player. In that respect, a radio station can be a good thing to use.
