I'm not a huge Mega Man fan, only played like 1 or 2 games, though this year I started to get in to the Mega Man Archie Comic. I actually bought the Book which covers the first 4 Issues. I really did enjoy reading the story, and how the Mega Man stuff began. I then started to collect each issue from issue 5 to issue 19, the current one. The artwork is pretty nice, there's some good action, and the new characters that appear are good too. I ask you guys, is anyone else following the story, and is collecting the comics? What do you make of it? I'll be honest, I think I prefer the Mega Man Archie comic to Sonic in Archie. I like Quake Woman (Tempo), she played a key role in the current issue, and her personality is interesting too. She's concerned about going offline again and again, but she's a tough cookie too. Rock in Ages looks to be a good story, and it's celebrating 25 years of Mega Man. Well atleast Capcom are doing something, and not just that crappy game I've heard about.

I've been collecting the Mega Man series and I've rather enjoyed it so far. The artwork is splendid (though I wish Spaziante contributed more of his work to the stories), the characters have a lot more personality to them then you get out of the games (obviously, duh) and even the Megamix manga in some cases. I also rather enjoy the little jokes they include relating to the video games, such as in Issue 12, Mega Man destroys Wily Machine No. 2 with Metal Man's weapon then states that he ought to have used it more often throughout the adventure. That was a nod to Mega Man 2 in which nearly all the bosses are weak against the Metal Blade. Also in Issue 19, Dr. Light mentions that Mega Man's new sliding technique stops working on modes 9 and 10, which is a reference to the lack of sliding in the recent Mega Man 9 and 10 games.

From what I've read, I just cannot begin to get interested in this. Which is a shame as I adore Mega Man as a series.

It's okay, but it's sadly very kid-oriented. A real shame because it's an amazing license and they could do wonders with it if they want. Instead, it's all very facile. Art's lovely. Script's lacking. Maybe Flynn's stretching himself too thin?

Worth picking up or not? Maybe Flynn's stretching himself too thin? He's doing - what - this, Sonic, Sonic Universe, and the New Crusaders stuff? Four ongoings at once does seem like a challenge for a solo writer.

Charles, from what's happened last year? Yeah, worth picking up. But considering four months of next year will be devoted to the Sanic crossover, that may be even more reason to pick it up, or a reason to wait. Dunno.

The MegaSonic crossover is going to be the best crossover ever. Or houses will burn with their families still inside.

The nameless strawwoman makes a valid argument.

I'm actually fairly impressed that she isn't a strawwoman: it's fairly obvious Light's got to win the debate, but I can see the merit behind her arguments. I absolutely agree with L.T.'s assessment above, though, it does feel very facile, which is probably why I don't enjoy it so much. This, for example, doesn't appear to be born of a desire to answer the question or justify Mega Man's existence. I dunno, it all feels very superficial. Am I making any sense? I keep bringing up the fact that I don't like this comic because I'm not quite sure why that is myself, incidentally. I don't mean to keep having a go at the man. Edit: Homogeneous, that's the word. That's how it feels to me.

I remember that issue above. I felt sorry for Quakewoman/Tempo as her personality was removed, and stuff. Thankfully she's a cool character when does have personality. Since this is a Mega Man thread, I bought myself a Mega Man plush. The tag says Mega Man 10, the plush is so cute.

Huh, I read this series too, it's fairly good stuff but it does suffer from the curse of Ian now and then with weak plots and executions, but that's not stopping me from enjoying it.

I liked the Origin of Proto Man, there was some emotions in that story. The next story looks interesting, Rock in Ages I think.

Read the Rock of Ages issue recently, plenty of time jumps, and cameo's from Mega Man games, such as Proto Man, Bass etc. The New Year issue sees the return of the Emerald Spears. I'm sort of interested in those guys, really good bad guys. I think the leader's called Xander Payne, the guy with the robotic eye, but has an eye patch over it. Since Rock of Ages is the last issue this year, I really am glad to have got in to the Mega Man comics. Bring on the new year next year.

I recently got a Mega Man Robot Master Field Guide book. It's quite good to read, and learn about all the Robot Masters, plus unknown ones. It is Volume 0, so there may be another book in the future. Anyone picked up a copy or seen a copy?
