Right, I would very much like to find out if anyone else remembers this or, even better, can find evidence of it, as I'm pretty sure I haven't gone insane.
Sometime in the mid-to-late 90s, CITV did a sort of mash-up of their usual shows of the time, I don't remember if it was for a particular occasion or not. They basically gathered all the presenters together in the CITV studio, then they were drawn at random (I think this was done using a wheel?) to host each other's programmes.
The only match-ups I can remember for sure are Carol Vorderman (then a How 2 presenter) hosting an episode of Art Attack, and notably her How 2 co-presenter Gareth Jones being I think the only one drawn out for his own show. There were other presenters and shows included but I'm buggered if I remember any of them.
I swear this was an actual televisual thing that happened, I remember watching it right through. And yet I can't find a single damn reference to such a thing ever happening anywhere on the net (annoyingly, doing a search for "CITV mash up" brings up some stupid band that's inexplicably decided to call themselves just that, and I now automatically despise them and all their works for that very reason).
If this stirs anyone's memories then please let me know. More info remembered is welcome, as are any further discovered references or, ideally, hard evidence. Cheers.
