So I was thinking. If there was a animated version of Sonic The Comic how would you like the characters to be like. Would this be a TV series? A web series? A movie? What would you prefer to see Sonic The Comic as? Live Action? A sort of satAM animation. Or CG? Answer and share some ideas of what you would think Sonic The Comic animated would be like?

I think it'd be nice to have short flash animations on the site as rare one-off treats. Realistically, it won't ever be a TV series, film or live action series (thank goodness!). But short little animations are not only feasible but also achievable. I live in hope!

Sure, I'd like to see an StC animation. Preferably one that I'd work on and that someone would pay me lots of money to do so.
To be in keeping with the comic, it would be 2d and would be done in Toon Boom. Richard Elson would design the characters, Nigel Kitching and Lew Stringer would be dual heads of script department and all the voice actors would be British. Each episode would be 5 minutes long and these would be a mix of funny one-offs and longer stories.
Also, in a perfect world, this would be entirely feasible.

Only if it did the material justice.
To be honest though it was a comic and am happy for it to remain a comic. Just because the pictures move and make noises doesn't make it better.

But short little animations are not only feasible but also achievable. The, what, 2? 3? More? Failed attempts at exactly that probably demonstrate otherwise. One of the issues I've had with those attempts has been the voice acting. Firstly, the acting part was, well, awful in basically all instances. Secondly, and more importantly for other attempts, it just doesn't really work when spoken out loud. STC's got an innately British tone of voice to the writing - but when you hear an actual, honest-to-god English accent coming out of Sonic's mouth... it just jars your mind. But, similarly, an American voice attempting the spattering of British slang or the general dialogue construction just sounds out of place too. Plus, it's kinda just disappointing taking something so classically British and then Americanizing it. It's a Catch 22 that, given the unlikelihood of finding a talent to make the best of it in their free time for no money, just kinda sinks the chances of any such endeavour. In short, the comics are great as comics. I'm quite happy with them staying there. Though it'd be nice if the licensing wasn't such an arse and we could get high quality reprints...

I think the problem is that acting is harder than it seems. Especially voice acting. It's not really about accents but finding people who can create a character voice. Though the bar isn't set particularly high in regards to voice acting in Sonic media.

I would like Sonic to be played by Jason Griffith (with his Shadow voice).
Robotnik should be played by Jim Cummings.

As much as I would love to see it happen, Alex brings up a lot of good reasons for why it's not really practical. I think back to that animation that was shown at SoS 2011, and I remember visibly cringing at the voice-acting. It's one of those things that really needs to be done right, keeping in tone with the comic, which given the ideas about Sonic that have been firmly planted in the minds of people both inside and outside the fanbase is going to be very jarring for most. Mind you, as far as I'm concerned such a thing shouldn't exist unless it involves Stephen Fry, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Jessica Nyes. Maybe Dylan Moran as Knuckles.

There was an ongoing project here to do just this. It ground to a halt, unfortunately. Such a project requires masses and masses of work and effort, not to mention organisational skills to get everyone working together. Seeing as STCO is done in people's spare time, I doubt such a project would be possible.
