Stay Sonic is a 1993 book, which Nigel Kitching used a reference for some of the early issues, of STC (STC's original editor told writer Nigel Kitching to purchase a copy of Stay Sonic, early writers like mark miller were probably also were given the same info) it contains some of the early information on the Kintobor backstory, on the history of Mobius and other bit of the SEGA of Europe version of Sonic's backstory which has mostly been forgotten about 9 month back I got my hands on a very good condition copy, but have only really got chance to read it recently..
was wondering if anyone else had read it/owned a copy,
and if it was worth sharing the information with the rest of you... I mean you can find info on it online fairly easily, but it seem like a piece of the STC history we've never really chatted about much on here

I have seen some scans. One of the more intesting details is that Mobians cannot talk to humans without a device, something disregarded in STC. Before Stay Sonic, there was the Sonic Bible.

I had a copy of that book when I was a kid, but it seems to have gone walkabout. I must have read through it about a hundred times, so I think the pages were starting to fall out.

I have it, I found it sitting about in a sale somewhere years ago and bought it! It's in pretty good nick, still on my bookshelf at home... unless my parents had a clearout! D; I don't remember all that much about it, to be honest. Only that it uses thing like the ROCC, Kintobor, Sonic turning blue and stuff like that. I think some of the Sonic books by "Martin Adams" use it as a back story too. I seem to remember one of them referring to Sonic collecting rings in order to fix the ROCC and turn Robotnik back into Kintobor. It's an allright book, and I suppose a good collector's item, especially for STC fans. I hope to hang on to my copy!

I LOVED THIS BOOK It took me years to realise that sonic and Robotniks' origin wasn't the actual game cannon, but it made total sense that STC used it in their origin story. I remember being like "well duh, we know this already!" Lets just say I was a very trusting child... I'm still waiting for that live action Sonic movie he promises in the interview!

I have a very tatty copy on my bookshelf that hasn't been read in years. Think it came out the same summer that STC started. Certainly it was that summer when I got it. Was the basis for issue eight but I don't think it was for much else.

Strangely enough, I've never even heard of it until now.

Me neither, I did wonder where this story originated from though.

I'll post some stuff up from it over the weekend and Tom you're slightly wrong as it also has some info in it which is used in the first Sonics World 2 parter

Is Miles Prower really Tails name (game canon) or do we get that from this book too? (comic canon) - I've often wondered...

Had a quick skim-read just now (for the first time in nearly 20 years) and couldn't find anything that was used in STC which wasn't used in issue eight. Plenty of stuff that STC contradicted though. Not particularly the revelation I remember it being as an eight year old, but then it wouldn't be would it - I was impressed by pretty much anything with the Sonic branding on it at that age, and it's a half decent sourcebook for what little material there was for it to go on at the time - if more than a little dated at this point (I had to look up who Cathy Dennis was).

Game canon, which is why in Japan his name was given as Miles in the lives screen and whatnot. Story told is that the designer of the character wanted to name him Miles Prower, but SEGA wanted Tails the Fox, so he sneaked in Miles as being the character's real name and it stuck.

Most excellent! *guitar riff* Thanking you I seem to recall stay sonic had a whole section about the zones of the first 2 games, which I found facinating. I suppose STC making the metropolis zone an actual city location in the comic is thanks to that in part?

I figure that was more a confluence of the name and needing a city location.

I figure that was more a confluence of the name and needing a city location. The word Metropolis in ancient Greek means Mother city. Though today it just means a large city, so yeah, I guess they just took the name literally.
