If you live in the UK area (which you most likely do ) and have ever wanted to meet fellow Sonic fans in places besides (or have been unable to attend) Summer of Sonic, well, I have fantastic news for you! The large Sonic fanbase within the United Kingdom has created a solution! ==Sonic London== Sonic London has existed for approximately three years, founded by HelenBaby and a close team of co-organisers. The events average about thirty people per meet, generally (as the name implies) meeting in the London area; the events have become so regular and professional that companies such as Nintendo, Capcom and Sumo Digital have recognized them and given them free goodies to hand out. Their upcoming meetup is on Saturday, November 30th, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM at the Iron Duke, Victoria in London. They’ll be upstairs, as the staff have allowed them to reserve the whole upper floor for their event. Activities will include gaming, drawing, drinking (duh ) and of course, being able to chat about one’s favorite hedgehogs and such. Feel free to RSVP via Facebook!==Weston Super Sonic== Now, for those in the Western England or Wales area, don’t lose hope yet; there’s one in your area too even! There will be a six hour fan event held in Weston Super Mare this January, complete with gaming competitions, costume workshops (for next year's SoS) and an art corner. Best of all, admission is free! It will be on January 11th, 2014 from 10:30 AM to 4:30 AM at the Vintage Church on Hughenden Rd in Weston Super Mare. This is the inaugural event for this group, so please feel free to stop by if you’re in the area; the more fans who attend the more likely this will be a recurring event! Feel free to RSVP via Facebook!(( For those NOT in the UK area, don’t lose hope; there’s a large collection of US-based (and one Australian) Sonic meetup groups as well, and you can view the full list here. The group it's in was also formed for the purpose of helping others set up meets and groups in their area. ))

Good to see there are lots of alternatives to SoS, I know there were a few people dissapointed they couldn't make it along either through expense of travel or lack of ticket - what sort of a crowd do these things gather? teens? Kids with mum & dads? older fans?

Kids with mum & dads? older fans? Sonic London is 18+ only (they tend to go to bars) if that was a concern for you! It ultimately is up to the groups to set an age limit, though when we had a Boom West meetup over here in the States two weeks ago, we had 15 fans in the 16-40 range. I've no idea what Weston Super Sonic's age range will be, but my guess is it will at least be late teens and up; it seems parents and children don't really come until the events are very large. Understandable, since there's not that much to entertain the younger guests at smaller events, which tend to be focused more on conversation and such.

Double post I know but I found out some information that might be relevant.
Claire, the organiser of WSS, informed me that the venue can hold about 30-40 people. Since it's at 9 going and 10 maybes... I'd definitely consider reserving yourself a spot before they're all out! At Boom West, to prevent overflow, we put everyone who RSVP'd on a list and let them in first; while overflow didn't happen fortunately, I assume something could happen at WSS if there's a fair share showing up.

Definitely sorry about triple posting, but some more news on Weston Super Sonic. In response to the warm reception of WSS, the venue has scheduled to have its capacity doubled to 70 people. The event's at 22 going and 10 maybes on Facebook alone, so it could very likely fill up in the next 3 months! If you DON'T have a Facebook, fantastic news - it is now possible to RSVP via e-mail. Simply send a message to westonsupersonic@gmail.com, presumably with whatever name you'll be using to attend. Your name (or pseudonym) is of import because it allows you to be put on a list that guarantees you a spot. Once 70 people are in that building, no one else will be allowed in, and it wouldn't be any fun to be turned away at the door! Jamie of the Sonic Show has also confirmed his attendance, so you can expect the Sonic Show (perhaps better known to some as the folks who kindly streamed Summer of Sonic earlier this year) to be present at the venue as well! The Sonic Show has also promoted the event on their Twitter and Facebook pages; given the large boost in capacity, Weston Super Sonic is naturally encouraging any and all attendees to promote the event to any who might be able to attend. === Since this thread is for UK Sonic fan news, those of you in the North are in luck. A Sonic Manchester meetup, while not confirmed, is in the works from what my circles tell me. Sounds like England's going to have one AWESOME year for Sonic fan events, to say the least. I'll report any news on Sonic Manchester as it comes, naturally. However, for those in the Manchester area for the Play Expo on October 12-13, you are once more in luck; attendees are trying to get a Sonic/SEGA fan gathering going there over at RadioSEGA.net.(I've also edited the meetup group list in the OP to link to a better archive; the old archive required a Facebook account to view, while this one does not)

Aah, goody! Something that's not a hundred [censored]ometers away! Heck, this is practically my doorstep, could only be better if it were at the BIC. I'm making sure I remember this by making the ad my desktop background.

I'm making sure I remember this by making the ad my desktop background. Clever idea, Devo! I hope you and all the other fans have a wonderful time at Weston Super Sonic! I'm really eager to see this take off in particular because if it becomes recurring, it could very well become another Summer of Sonic and thus be a sort of place for all those who aren't able to get into SOS. Or heck, those who want more than one Sonic event a year. I've no idea if they plan on keeping it in the Winter or moving it to Summer, but keeping it in Winter would be pretty cool overall I think! Thanks for keeping everyone informed about this stuff! No problem at all! This is my role in the Sonic Revolution team - working to make sure these events are known in every nook and cranny of the internet! I've been doing so much promo work lately I've actually listed this as my job on Facebook..

It's Sanicday (Saturday), so news updates! While I have a ton for the whole world, the primarily UK base here saves me work as I can focus on a few small areas. In the United Kingdom, there’s a SEGA cosplay photoshoot planned to be held at the MCM Expo in London on October 26 and 27. You can RSVP at the event’s page! Also in the UK, Weston Super Sonic has recently unveiled a new set of medals that will be awarded to winners of its various competitions. Pretty sweet, no? I'll need to get something like that for Revolution over here. Since it's across the Channel from the UK, there’s word of a “Winter of Sonic” to be held in the Netherlands. Unfortunately there’s no further news just yet! But, that should mean tons of fun for those in the Schengen Area indeed.

This bump double post is meant to inform any Sonic London attendees that the venue has changed! Sonic London’s 12th meetup, officially titled the SonicLondon Winter Party, will be held on Saturday, November 30th from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. The actual venue is the Meltdown London at 342 Caledonian Road in north London. Activities will include gaming, drawing, and simply having fun listening to Sonic music and chatting with fans! Meltdown is a gamer-themed bar, and it has agreed to loan its Xbox 360 to Sonic London for its gaming activities. Due to being a pub, it is age 18 and up only. So yes, along with Weston Super Sonic, a very good alternative to SoS if you're interested in meeting some fellow Boomers in person!

Sonic London will be having meetup #13 once more at the Meltdown Bar in London on February 23rd. www.facebook.com/events/571207212959354/ Activities will include an art corner for the creatively-inclined, as well as lots of gaming on 3DS and Xbox. If you missed the Winter Party, don't hesitate to stop by the latest meet. The festivities will begin at 1:30 PM local time. Weston Super Sonic recently was given a plug by the Sonic Stadium, so it's in the 40+ attendees range. Not bad at all for a first year. I'll be sharing details of the day when I get some from the event's organiser.

Annnnd WSS is a wrap, folks! Let's start by giving some photos of the day. There was an extensive art contest, as can be seen! There was a cosplay contest, but with only one entry by a very nice Tails cosplay, it was an easy win. Somewhat blurry but there was quite a large merch display similar to what Summer of Sonic has. I'm surprised nothing was stolen! The racing competition was apparently intense at points, and was played via projector on the wall! It doesn't show well in images, unfortunately. More photos can be found on both the event page and this public album of photos. The Sonic Show, the media arm of the Sonic Stadium, was also present at the event. They were nice enough to do a short recap video visible here. All in all there were about 25 attendees, but that was a wonderful enough turnout that the team behind WSS still has plans to expand its staff and host another event next year. In the meantime they will be trying to get smaller meetups going so as to help build relationships and enthusiasm for next year's event in the SW England area. For news related to WSS and other Sonic events, you can follow the newly-formed Weston Super Sonic page on Facebook. I'll update the thread with any fan event news in the UK area. Ogilvie out!

Yes, as Tanner so kindly pointed out, the 13th SonicLondon meet has been announced! Date : 23/2/14 Time 1:30 - late (although if you're planning on coming later do be sure to either communicate with the gang via Facebook, or with one of your friends who you know are attending, as there are no guarantees with regards what time folks will leave. We should be around til early evening atleast, however!) Venue : Meltdown London, 342 Caledonian Road, London N1 1BB Age range : 18+ Activities There will be contests going on throughout the day. These will include : ~ Sonic Lost World 3DS Tourney : You will need a copy of the game to partcipate in this (hence why this meet is being advertised as Sonic Lost World Hard Mode. But don't fret if you don't have a copy, because you can still take part in other contests!) ~ Sonic & Sega AllStars Racing (Xbox 360) : The details of this will be decided by our Xbox 360 guy (aka Tareq/Cyburn). They will be confirmed on the day. ~ Art Contest : Draw a picture inline with the Art Contest's theme (to be decided and confirmed on the day by our Art Corner maestro Andrew Hamblin). All entries must be created by event attendees on the day itself Drinking SonicLondon kindly asks all attendees to purchase a drink or two throughout the course of the day at the very least. This is because the reason we are allowed to use the awesome Meltdown premises is in exchange for business. If you don't drink alcohol we urge you to buy a soft drink atleast, or a pint for your buddy. Meltdown are, however, cool with people bringing in food from outside! So do feel free to bring a packed lunch! A pizza run is also something which may well happen around dinner time... (if you'd like to take part please do ensure you have some cash on you). As Central London pubs go Meltdown is pretty cheap! You can get a pint for as little as £3.50, and, for those that can afford it, they have a scrumptious range of gaming-themed cocktails! So yea, bottoms up <3 Meet SonicLondon is a wonderful oppurtunity to meet and make new friends with other Sonic fans in the Uk. Many friendships have been forged at SonicLondon (staffie Torch even met his wonderful girlfriend Val at one of our meets). Please don't be put off by the fact this is our 13th meet, yes we have history, but we have new attendees coming all the time. Coming and staying. We're probably one of the least cliquey meetup groups you'll find. So come on down! To RSVP/see which of your mates are going please see here : facebook.com/events/571207212959354/To check out photos, write-ups and testimonials from our previous meets see here : soniclondon.comIt would be really interesting to see some StCO folks in attendance!

It's short notice, but that's primarily because it's the first one, but Weston Super Sonic is organising a more informal get together on Hedgehog Day!
Event specifics:
City: Weston-Super-Mare Date: Sunday 2nd Feb Location: Druckers, The Sovereign Centre (the open cafe) Time: 1pm
There will be general chat for fans to meet and greet, but Rurifuu/Claire is also looking for staff for next year's Weston Super Sonic event. If you have some sort of skill - artwork, voice acting, advertising, cosplay, anything else, she'd love to hear what you could bring to the convention.
Rurifuu will also have an artwork table at Animanga POP! in Plymouth on Saturday, February 8th at the Holiday Inn on Armada Way; you are welcome to stop by and talk to her about Sonic events there as well.
