My brand of copyrighted character discussions has reached the Comic Zone. PH33R! So, Porker Lewis... A mobian pig that debuted in Issue 1 and has carried on to this day. He was driven insane after being stuck on the Metallix planet for a month and, after Robotnik's defeat, opted to live with Knuckles on the Angel Island, helping out with the ancient computers. He is a very important character to the story. Without him there wouldn't be the Kintobor computer. Although he was, in a way, replaced by Tekno, he remains as one of the most intelligent mobians about. He is a sega character. Yep. Ever seen him in Spring Yard Zone as he hops away from Badnik Wreckage Questions: 1) Should Porker have more of a Sega-ish role? 2) Porker or Tekno: Who's better? 3) Theories on what will happen to Porker in the Haunted Hill story?

1) Should Porker have more of a Sega-ish role? Not really to be honest, he's great as he is. ^_^
2) Porker or Tekno: Who's better? The two of them both fitted the same role in the team, but Porker always rubbed off as the smarter of the two (especally personality-wise) with Tekno seemed more... "Friend of Amy who is also very smart." I like both of them, but put them side by side and Porker would seem the better of the two.
3) Theories on what will happen to Porker in the Haunted Hill story? I fear the fact that he never seemed to get over the whole Metallix incident may result in the poor guy cracking again and lord knows what may happen to him as a result of that...

1) Should Porker have more of a Sega-ish role?I don't actually understand that question.... Leave him as he is, he rocks. 2) Porker or Tekno: Who's better?Porker. Not to dismiss Tekno, I like her. It's just I generally prefer Porker as he reminds me of me somewhat. Also, when Tekno took over his role in Sonic's gang she seemed to dumb down: I only have scans of the most important stories (and "Shady Characters") post-#120, but it seems that she transformed into a fount of generic explanatory spiel. Not good. Porker is, in my mind, the most well-rounded character in the StC universe, and certainly the one who's gone through the most changes: from random furry to brainy-type to valuable Freedom Fighter to mentally fragile recluse to unlikely companion of Knuckles. And then we find out his Oscar backstory! 3) Theories on what will happen to Porker in the Haunted Hill story?Nothing too serious, I hope. I could certainly see him snapping again, but I hope he'll keep his head. He could even save the day again, a la "The Big Decision" - how he could do it from his current decision, though, ain't exactly clear.

To clear up question 1, should Porker be in more Sega games and have a better role than hopping away from Badnik wreckage?

Ah, right.
Nah.
The SegaSonic and StC universes are so seperate by now it seems silly to try and mix them. Besides, Porker's job is more or less done in Sega by Tails.

Questions: 1) Should Porker have more of a Sega-ish role? 2) Porker or Tekno: Who's better? 3) Theories on what will happen to Porker in the Haunted Hill story? I always liked Porker. I think he had a wonderful character arc. That scene with him alone in the rain in "The Ghost Ship" Part 1 kills me. 1. I didn't even realise he was in the games. I got the impression that some Sega person made up the names after the game had released for the sake of putting something in the manuals. 2. I prefer Tekno's design, but I enjoyed Porker's characterisation more. 3. No comments on that, but I actually rewrote #226 before lettering to make him more cowardly.

Questions: 1) Should Porker have more of a Sega-ish role? 2) Porker or Tekno: Who's better? 3) Theories on what will happen to Porker in the Haunted Hill story? 1) Not really. In the Segaverse, Tails is the good genius. No need for a second one. 2) Porker. He seems a lot more smarter then Tekno will ever will be. 3) I think Porker is still be being tortured by the ghosts in that zone.

1) I feel that...well no, STC and Sega are differant more than ever now, they need their differances.
2) Porker, Im the Retrogamer of course I prefer the older ones, I feel he had a lot more character. I like Teckno though, but to be honest I never really saw her as a replacment for Porker.
3) Not a clue! Clueless. Unknowing. In a state of befudelment. *Has the Thesaurus remove painfully from his brain*

porker and johnny are actually the little animals that are freed when sonic smashes badniks.
and notice how hes gone from being a short fat naked pig with trotters, then he donned the leather jacket, he got a bit slimmer, then he gradually got a lot taller and slimmer and had hands instead of trotters?
at what point in the comic was it when they decided to give him hands instead of trotters?

Earlyish, but he went back a couple of times. I remember that he had hands by the "Enter Knuckles" strips drawn by Elson, but then when Casanovas did "The Frozen Zone" in #40 he'd gone back to trotters...I think. Anyway, by the #50s it was digits an' opposable thumbs all the way.

i think all of casanovas drawings of him have trotters as far as I remember.

It was pretty sensible to give Porker proper hands (imagine operating all that equipment with trotters) but for some reason it always bothered me when they gave all the background characters humanoid designs.

Ah so thats the reason, was it like two differant artists that did it two differant ways? Should be interesting to know. Now im off until a responce to find Sonic R for PC.
*Walks out the door and gets hit by a car, it has the letters X3 for a registration*
And what else about Porker...oh yeah, anyone wonder why he went to the floating island, the place that suffered tons of hurt, if he wanted to get away from it all.

Ahem. Taken from Issue 104:
Porker: Sonic, I'm going to stay on the floating island for a while...
There's loads of work to do on the Ancient Computer systems and I think I can help.
A while? He never came back!

He was down on Mobius in the Chaos saga series of linked stories, right? I certainly remember him being there in "What Price Victory?", with that machine that was meant to neutralise Chaos.

Maybe it should be put in the swear filter to save you the bother (At this rate, I suspect that by the end of the year the English language on here will have been cut down by 50%)

Anyway back to topic, what does everyone think was Porkers defining moment in STC history?
