Sorry about not setting up an Omega discussion, but since he's only been in one game, it really wan't worth it. Perhaps next week...
This week it's all about... Knuckles (And only Knuckles- no Super Knux, no Hyper Knux, no Chaos Knux etc...)
Bio:
Knuckles is a leading character in the Sonic games. His role, though small, is very important. His history stretches back further than any of the other important characters. He is wild, strong, self centred and egoistic. He never turns down a good fight and hates to be compared to Sonic. He also hates to be called Sonic's friend and being thanked by Sonic himself. His trademarks are his spiked gloves, his reggae shoes and his long dreadlocks, which he washes constantly. Knuckles is also good at swimming and rivals Tails at speed, as he slices through the water. He can glide by thrusting his body into small currents of air and can punch at lightning speed which temporarily sets his glove on fire, making a small explosion as it collides with anything. He is also an expert at digging and can dig metres underground in the space of a few seconds. Knuckles hates showing damage and always gets up after being knowcked down. His duty in life is to guard the Master Emerald and Angel Island. He waits for the day "his people return from the stars", alone.
Questions you may want to answer:
Does Knuckles get a good enough appearance in most Sonic games?
Should Knuckles and Sonic ever make up?
Should Knuckles lose the emerald, period?
Is Knuckles an underated character?

The day Sonic and Knuckles become best friends is the day that Sonic Team will collapse. Which is why I'm always put off by Sonic The Movie, when the President speaks to Knuckles, saying he's Sonic's best friend. Gah.

While Knuckles isn't one of my favourite characters (not that I hate him) I've always enjoyed his stories in STC, while its a cliche, loners are just so appealing to me, I don't know why.
One thing I could never understand about him when I was young was what the heck an Echidna was (Some of the people at School thought it was some kind of Womble -_-')
I remember enjoying fighting him in S3. It was cool the way he could glide ghostly about and climb walls. I also enjoyed the Chaotix game as it featured Knuckles seperate from Sonic (Sometimes I wish Sega would do more spinoff games), Knuckles is also a well balanced character, as he has a reasonable set of set of Speed, strength and flight abilities that might not supass a character like Sonic at running, but Knuckles certainly has more control then Sonic, as I've noticed when playing Sonic R.
The question of Knuckles gulibillity is a running joke in the fandom for some time now, personlly I tend to believe Knuckles is only duped once in every Universe, Archie/SA/Sonic 3/STC and Sonic X.
I'm not really sure if Knuckles is underatted, I mean he's quite a popular character in the fandom, coming in the top five alongside Sonic, Shadow and Tails.
I was pleased that STC kept Knuckles issolated on the Floating Island, heck STC seemed to get Knuckles closer to the Sega version then Sega themselves have been doing lately...

I love the idea of a two-characters that dont really like each other, have to combine forces to survive kinda thing.
Hence Sonic and Knuckles, ever since they first made Knuckles he has been a leading character, I would say he is only a couple of meters short of the breat blue one.
He is original and stylish, a great storyline that never deviates between series's, a good thing and some pretty good one-liners.
Plus I completed S&K with him before anyone, so hes a bit special in a way cause id been trying for ages!

sonic knuckle kinda of like have a brotherly rivalry. they like each other but try to out do each other.
thought I hate the way he is shown in sonic x. he's very gulliable and I dont' think he should be. that part annoys me. also his hunting levels in sa1 and sa2, cuz they weren't fun.

Knuckles is a great character, him and Sonic are a right pair. And you can guarantee he'll get tricked almost every time he makes an appearence.
by the way, in the japanese version, he doesn't say "best friend" he just says they are friends

Or "buddies" as a matter of fact. However, I have heard elsewhere of Knuckles being Sonic's best friend AND worst enemy. I think it was the Sega website...

buddies is a better word. the subs aren't great as mines a Hong Kong copy. but i'll take bad subs over dubbing any day.

its about time they re-released Chaotix, I mean the gamecube has almost every other sonic game ever made available on it now, so why not the one that teh least people probably have.

i think a knuckles chaotix 2 would be awsome, and lets have it on a system that people actually own (unlike the original) and when u beat it you should get knuckles chaotix 1 as a hidden thing.

1. I think Knuckles gets enough focus in the games. If Sonic Team persist in giving him irritating emerald-finding levels, he probably gets far too much focus.
2. I don't think Knuckles and Sonic need to 'make up'. They'll never particularly like each other because their personalities are so different, but they can probably get along.

When I think of Knuckles I think of his past and his tribe. Knuckles first appeared in Sonic 3 and ever scince then all we know about him is as much as he knows about himself. Why was he given the task to guard the Master Emerald? Why is it the Master Emerald alter now floats in the sky? More importantly, why didn't Tikal tell Knuckles about this? I have a feeling that Yuji Naka may reveal all of this in a Sonic game not too far away in the furture. (I hope).

If you play Knuckles in Sonic Adventure, at the start of the game he's sitting at the alter asking himself why his people dissapeared and why he's been left to guard the Master Emerald. He says for as long as he can remember he's been guarding it, so didn't seem like it was just something STC came up with.

It's kinda like Wolverine in the X-Men. Nobody knew his past and then Marvel did the Origin story which I thought was awesome and did the job well  although I'd rather not wait like 20 years to find out about Knuckles lol. I think one of the reasons the Origin story worked was that it was simply telling the story of Wolverine's past but not revealing it to anyone in the main continuity, it was just a seperate story. So we could find out about Knux past, doesn't mean he has to |

Knuckles has to remain the Knuckles we all know and love. However, the Knuckles always after the Master Emerald is OLD now. It was good to see him in Sonic Heroes not hunting Emeralds.
He shoul;d get his own game (atelast with Chaostix) and they should do something completely independant of Sonic. Knuckles should confront Chaos again, returned after being rembued with Chaos Energy again. Or help Chaotix with something in the Specail Zone. But forget the Fuggin Master Emerald cliche please. Maybe the secret of his tribe could finally be revealed (ofcourse it would have to be bloody good. Better than my ideas).
Also, Knux is way to gullible. Stop doing that to him. Leave the worm headed ca-knucklehead alone.

If there's one thing they shouldn't do it's bring back Chaos. I didn't see the point of him being in Sonic Battle and I don't see the point of him being in any other game except maybe as a secret character. I say bring in a new villain.
