You know how sonic team have made a few sonic collection cds for different formats over the years (Saturn PC and now gamecube)
Well what would you perfer of this choice...
-Sonic Team to work on the next sonic title after Heros which will take them roughly a year and a bit so so.
Or
-Instead of having a shiny package with the old mega drive games in them (bless them we do love them) They take the mega drive series (sonic 1, 2, 3 + Knuckles) and take Sonic CD and recreate the games (and expand on them) in glorious 3d a deeper storyline can be added the events can all be put in some order and sense and all the goodies of these games + more can be enjoyed in the most modern visual display.
Course that means the next game in the series would be delayed quite a while.
think about it and post how you think the game should work.

Well, I passed this random website not related to Sega and they were saying about "Ultra Collection", an add to "Mega Collection", where there are about 20 mint games, including the saturn ones and the never released Sonic Crackers and Sonic X-Treme in complete.
Load a' tosh if you ask me.

They recreated Green Hill Zone in 3D on SA2. But still, a 3D Flying Battery would be pretty cool, like a really long version of the Egg Fleet or Egg Carrier. Or how about a giant 3D Metropolis Zone? That'd look like a cross between the one in Sonic Heroes and Mute City in F-Zero GX. Cool idea!

naaa.. it would take just as long to recreated any of the previous sonic games in 3d as it would to create a new one. and let's face it, would you rather have a potentially sub-par version of a game you used to enjoy? or a brand new game?
of course, a lot of the previous sonic games would be darn-near impossible to create in 3d due to the interiors with low roofs... they would need to almost completley re-sculpt all the zones.

Sonic X-Treme and Sonic Crackers? Not a hope in Hell, those games were scrapped during development, they're not going to waste their time completing old games when they could be using it for new projects. It's a nice idea though
