Am I the only one who found the new Doctor Who to be...erm...over-rated? I watched some of the old ones when I was younger and I didnt think the new series was as good, despite it being some time ago. I'd still rather watch something like Spooks than the new Doctor Who, given the choice.

I liked Doctor Who this year, it was the first series I watched and I thought it was great.
Shame I never watched it from the beginning.

You can probably be forgiven that, given that the programme began in 1963 and enjoyed twenty-eight years of adventures before the BBC cruelly and most heinously placed it on "hiatus" after the ironically-titled Survival...
"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea is asleep and the rivers dream; People made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do." -The closing line.
Surely that encapsulates Doctor Who impeccably?

Fair enough.
Kinda strange they didn't start off the last Season with a mention of him then isn't it? Or is that common on Doctor Who?

Fair enough. Kinda strange they didn't start off the last Season with a mention of him then isn't it? Or is that common on Doctor Who? As my understanding goes, The series producers wanted to make a fresh start with the character, making him instantly attractive to new fans and gradually unravelling his mythos to please older fans - does that make sense? Essentially, there's been a long gap between sylvester mcoy and the tv movie and another long gap between paul mcgann's doctor and ol' eccleston - during which time there's been this time war, whihc hopefully might get mentioned a bit more in the new series - hurrah! I know there's at least one old doctors assistant popping up for an episode, so in time they may get around to having other characters in it, such as ace Kapeesh?

The Doctor's assistant you're talking about wouldn't happen to be his dog would it?

Cool. Thanks Chris. The Doctor's assistant you're talking about wouldn't happen to be his dog would it? The doctor's robot dog (K9) is showing up, and I beleive he's cameoing along with this OTHER former assistant - if only I knew my Doctor Who better, I'd tell you her name, but I...er...don't...so therefore can't - sorry!

Was good. Rose is unsure about the new doctor and is thinking about leaving. The regeneration goes wrong and he goes crazy for some reason, and the tardis crash landed. Then it ended.
Roll on Boxing Day.

I'm unsure about the new Doctor too. He's mad.
I was also a little annoyed at how...well, short it was.

I disliked the children in need one. Plus I think david tennant plays the docter crap in that ep...Christopher elccleson [sp] was the best IMO.
PLus it was too short.

David Tennant is an instant hit as far as I'm concerned. Obviously we don't have much to go on so far, but he displays many traits of classic Doctors in that one scene alone.
Chris Ec was brilliant, I thought he was ace, but he was still the most un-doctor-like. David so far displays the eccentricity of the Bakers with the MIGHTY sarcasm of Peter Davison, crossed with the sheer AWESOMENESS as a whole of Sylvester McCoy. He also displays some Eccleston traits too, so it's all good.
Brilliant. ;D

For those of you that missed it, it's up on the children in need site: www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/appealnight/doctor_who_special.shtmlI thought it worked rather well actually, I'm much more confident/intrigued than I was on tennant's first lines of dialogue as has been said.. roll on christmas day

I hope that the Daleks aren't now DEAD dead. I know they got their asses whipped in the last episode, and I know they're not appearing in season 2, but come on. Surely they can't be gone forever now, can they? One bunch of Daleks survived, perhaps there are more survivors of the Time War stranded in other time periods? Oh, the possibilities. And when we see them next, I hope we see something other than the traditional dustbin/pepperpot models. Remember the special weapons Dalek from Remembrance of the Daleks? Maybe we'll see something similar in season 3, hmmm? Or perhaps.... Davros?

Davros was killed by the Seventh Doctor when the Hand of Omega destroyed both Skaro and Davro's Imperial Mothership. So Davros and the Daleks are all dead. Until they inevitably write around it.
