They've unveiled the villains for the Christmas special! (a bunch of zombie-like dudes dressed as Santa)
Scary as heck. No, really. Okay, it's not...

Ooh, I like Tennant's costume. Very '70s-uni-lecturer-emulating-Edwardian-gent. ^_^ (Or something. )

Don't think so Dave. This is brand new info to me. Hmm.. actually, come to think of it, the news article said that K9 was found in a bin somewhere, and this guy put it back together and got it up and running, and gave it to the BBC or something.

Not quite what I was expecting, but still looking good. I thought the Cybermen might look a little Borg-like.

That'dd be toooo easy ^_^ Though in their own way there's a certain british wobbly setted smaller budget borg feel to them The face has got connotations from grevious to the retro stylings of the film 'metropolis' robot - I just think the wires and most of the joints like at the hand look a little too "rubber suit" ^__^ But heck it's not like I could do any better - roll on the cybermen says I!

Hmm... I think that it's an effective design. It is quite distinct, whilst still retaining the hallmarks that faithfully link them to those steel sons of Meglos. Chris G does have a point in saying that it looks uncomfortably soft and rubbery - but it's certainly a tremendously vast improvement over moon boots ( Earthshock) and cricket gloves painted grey ( Silver Nemesis)! And we have to admit that this is Doctor Who - it just wouldn't be the same if it didn't look tacky. Cybermen are vastly superior to those Borg plagiarists. For one, Cybermen have a wider vocabulary than "You-will-be-ass-im-i-lat-ed!" and "Re-sis-tance-is-fu-tile" (although they are inordinately fond of "Eeeeexxxcelent"); Whereas Borg can only stagger and stumble about like Romeran zombies, Cybermen are endowed with full articulation of their limbs; Cybermen actually use ranged weapons. Hmmm. Not quite what we were expecting, as a result of that impressive CG image, but still no less cool. Has a kind of retro look to it.

Good thing it's not CGI. Seems more solid and, therefore, potentially scarier. Unless it's bandy or has a lisp or something.

Thats so blatantly Bryan Hitch designed it hurts, its like they just sprayed ultimate Iron Man silver...
I remain unsure, such judgement is to be kept for actually seeing it appear in an episode.

"ooh doctor you are a one! chas eme! chase me!" etc Anyhow - somebody mentioned to me that the intention is for these cybermen to be slightly bigger than previous models - so they loom over the doctor more threateningly presumably - though there isn't much to give a sense of scale in the pic, it strikes me that in terms of costume construction, the feet look like they're more like platform shoes to give a sense of height, and from where the shoulders actually come in the suit, the eyeline's probably about where the mouth is ofn the head I find I'm liking it the more I look at it

Boy do I look quite the goose You look quite the fool... an april fool as it were... >_> and now that I can see your image... yes - the colour scheme does make it look very similar... then again, couldn't you do that with most other robot designs?

Does anyone know when the Christmas series starts? It's not a series, it's a one-off special to be shown on Christmas Day. Also, there's apparently some stuff filmed for Children in Need - will be shown at around 9pm on CIN (this Friday). I'm gonna miss it. Because I'm going to see Harry Potter.
