Though it staretd to drop around the Cyberman story If by that you mean "the Cybermen 2-parter was a big goddamn letdown and far too mediocre considering it was meant to be the first appearence of the Cybes on TV in 18 years", then I agree. Muchly.

Fair points and well-presented, although I'd still maintain that instances like that were exceptions rather than the rule (while I haven't watched Battlefield, I did pull my old Target novelisation off the shelf and in that UNIT still receives quite a hammering!) What vexes and aggravates me is his dogged insistence on self-referential preening. Davies, the Slitheen weren't all that compelling a character concept in the first place, so shoe-horning references to them in every other episode you write isn't exactly cementing your reputation...

Oh, they take a hammering right enough, but as long as they're the ones who win out in the end it's all good. You say that, but apparently small children love the Slitheen. (The Krillitanes whoop their butts, of course)

Kids these days have no taste. No Doctor Who villain will ever outclass the kawaii horror that is a Dalek.

I thought the Cyberman story was okay but there were a few let downs(cybercontroller - he's a Cyberman with a FLASHLIGHT ON HIS HEAD! Now he can see better in the dark than all the other Cyberman! He truly is superior). I could take that since it was their first appearance, just building them up for a climax, but all the episodes after that sucked worse.
And Daleks are so cute!!!
I think it's because they're so round and childish with lots of sticky out bits.
Ed-ited.

PORN! What the hell is kawaii about a Dalek!? Cuh-RAY-zeee! Everything. It's all about the strokeability, and the fact they're kind of camp, and they look like a child's drawing of a robot, and the plungers, and it's sooo adorable when they start shouting, "EX-TER-MIN-ATE!" in those funny little voices (and incidentally, did anyone else try to impersonate a Dalek by talking into a fan?)

Erm... Kittie, I'm not quite so certain that that's a picture that would be considered appropriate on a website and forum known to be frequented by young minors...

That picture reminds me of a Daleks porn movie. Yes that’s right, a Daleks porn movie. A friend e-mailed me a clip. As I recall, some women who are lost in a forest get abducted. They are transported onto a Dalek spaceship. Strangely, this transportation device seemed to only transport the women, and not their clothes, so they arrive on the spaceship naked? Odd that, one assumes a transporter malfunction. They are then probed by the Dalek. Currently, the producers of this peculiar movie are being sued for the use of the Dalek without permission.

I think this series up as far as The Age of Steel was sheer brilliance, probably better than the first. Though it staretd to drop around the Cyberman story and recent episodes just haven't done it for me. The first part of the Impossible Planet two parter was a bit boring. I think that the next episode is going to be brilliant though. Are the "ghosts" the Cybermen phasing through, or something different? When I first heard the name, I thought it would be the ghsots of the Timelords. I liked the Cybermen episodes, but Dr Who has slipped since then. The recent two were rather dull.

Btw, that nudey woman with the Dalek is apparently one of the assistants - I think it was Jon Pertwee / Third Doctor she was teamed with. Jo or Liz, can't remember which one.

The actress who did Liz Shaw, incidentally, got pregnant four months into the filming and (without telling anyone) did her stunts while three months preggers.

Whoa. Impressive. Dunno if anyone's mentioned this earlier in the thread, but there's going to be a Doctor Who Christmas special coming up.

Whoa. Impressive. Dunno if anyone's mentioned this earlier in the thread, but there's going to be a Doctor Who Christmas special coming up. Not surprised, the last Special was pretty effective. Do we know if Tennants actually sticking around or not, I'd think the doctor would be a bit narked at having to regen again. Also, am I the only one who felt the horribly obvious "We've always gonna stick together! even though in the next episode I blimmin pop my clogs!" at the end of last weekends ep could of been better done. Or at least would of been better suited a few episodes earlier? :\

Tennant's sticking around. Apparently he's signed up for at least two more series, which is good, as it's a tad too soon after Christopher Eccleston. All the older Doctors were in it for at least three years.

Random thoughts I had at work:
In the alternate universe, is there another version of the Doctor zipping around?
In this two-parter, what is the probability of this universe's John Loomis (damn, that wasn't his name, was it? I've forgotten it) appearing? And being important to the appearance of the Cybermen?

I’ve heard that the Torchwood end of season climax will merge with the Dr Who Christmas special.

Well, since this universe's Lumic is a road-sweeper in South London who hasn't worked out that people aren't called Dave, I doubt he has much importance to the Cybermen.

Whoa. Impressive. Dunno if anyone's mentioned this earlier in the thread, but there's going to be a Doctor Who Christmas special coming up. I thought they said that there was going to be one this year months before last year's even aired? They will probably be doing one every year unless someone on one side expressively says they don't wanna. Afterall, it's the only drama series the Beeb has been properly successful with in a LONG time.
