I thought that there were only ten thousand of those Daleks. Perhaps I have them confused with the ones that are probably still in suspended animation on Spiridon. Or are these two groups on in the same?

I am noticing irritation on Charles's part!
Anyway, I thought the episode was good but not great. And am too damn lazy to elaborate.
What I will say is that I am surprised that no-one has mentioned the new radio dramas. On BBC7 (digital channel only, unfortunately), they're doing a series that charts the Eighth Doctor's (Paul McGann) last adventures before he regenerates into the Ninth (Ecclestone)! I'm presuming this is all canon and we will hear how Gallifrey was blowed to bits in the Time War. Anyway it starts on New Year's Eve at 6pm, with the first half of two-part story "Blood of the Daleks".

doesn't anyone think the new year's schedule is a bit bloated with doctor who stuff? on new year's day there's the sarah jane thing and two episodes of torchwood.

I wont be watching Torchwood anyway but meh.
I hope the Sarah Jane thing is actually good. If it's anything like the Torchwood first episodes i'll be extremely disappointed. And considering I find there to be no need for ANOTHER spin off anyway, it's gonna have to be pretty damn good.

I am noticing irritation on Charles's part! Nah, you're noting PURE HATE for Davies' lazy writing.

Apparently Tennant is leaving the series. Yay!!! Eh? He's got a four-year contract, hasn't he? And what do you have against Tennant, anyway?

Gangs of New York... With Daleks...So, something reportedly overblown, self-important and rubbish... with Daleks. ...we've already had Doomsday.

Apparently Tennant is leaving the series. Yay!!! Apparently also, Tennant has been voted the best Doctor ever, leaving Tom Baker only second best! To all you Tennant-haters out there, I say... HA! ;D

Apparently Tennant is leaving the series. Yay!!! Eh? He's got a four-year contract, hasn't he? And what do you have against Tennant, anyway? No actor at the BBC has a four-year contract. The BBC only signs people series by series. The fourth series hasn't even been commissioned yet so right now nobody is playing the Doctor in series four!! Tennant just isn't as good as Eccleston. And I find him extremely annoying.

I hope that this new travelling companion won't become as smug and arrogant as Rose seemed to by the end of the previous series.

Apparently also, Tennant has been voted the best Doctor ever Isn't it convinient that the Doctor voted the best Doctor ever is the same Doctor on TV right now? I wonder if that's why he won.

i was personally shocked by that vote. I don't believe anyone who voted for tennant had ever seen any of the other doctors prior to eccleston... and it's crazy that they didn't vote for him. (i think he lost points for quitting.)

Nowadays, many people seem to watch the new episodes and say they know everything about the series. Confront them with a question about Thals, Haemovores and the like and they'll run for the hills.

I loved the special for the one reason that the ULTIMATE RAGE I got into after watching that pile of arse caused me to write the best teaser for our show ever.

Seems it's just as well I missed it, then. I do like Tennant, but I always preferred Eccleston (as you may know!) and there is NO WAY Tennant deserved to win the best Doctor of all time. Tom Baker or Jon Pertwee should have won. People just voted Tennant cos he's the most recent one (and possibly because he's cute, unlike the various other hoary old Doctors). What's all this about Eccleston reappearing? I'm intrigued. Also, I hope that any Dalek reappearances do not suck as much as Doomsday did.

I've also seen all the Doctors and I do think Tennant is a prime candidate for Best Doctor - he himself has done nothing undoctorlike to date, any negatives have been down to writing.
Personally, my top Docs:
Paul McGann/David Tennant (It's close) Sylvester McCoy (He's ace) Tom Baker (Before he turned into a raving lunatic) Colin Baker (Trial of a Timelord is class) Chrisopher Eccleston (Really not very Doctorlike but good at what he does) Peter Davison (The gamble paid off) Bill Hartnell (The original stil has charm) Jon Pertwee (Although Jon cemented himself in the Captain's Book of Awesomeness via Worzel Gummidge) Pat Troughton (He's good, but not what the Captain is looking for)

Troughton is the daddy, hands down. Eccleston is well served. Colin Baker was a great, but failed, experiment most of the time; McCoy a terrible idea unexpectedly pulled off some of the time. McGann, Davison and Pertwee do nothing for me. Tom Baker is memorable but not my cup of tea. Hartnell is very underrated, Tennant very overrated.

Watch the later McCoy episodes, the ones untainted by the "kiddy" approach - Ghost Light is one of the best Doc stories ever, not to mention Remembrance.
McGann, by the way, is THE most underrated Doctor of all time - every other Doctor (yes, even Tom) has needed time to settle into the role, but WHACK, just like that, I saw Paul, and... YES! He WAS the Doctor, to an unbelievable level.

McCoy's ace. If he tells you to do something, YOU SMEGGING DO IT. Again, look to Ghost Light and Remembrance of the Daleks - fanfleckingtastic.
