I believe he is, and I thought he died at the end of the McGann movie. Not that I've seen that in a while...

Yup, he died. But, I might point out, so did every single Dalek about a squillion times. Never stopped them.

Nor did it stop the BBC bringing him back when Richard E. Grant was doctor. (In the dark ages where the only hope for the Doctor was in web-cartoons )

I think he keeps finding ways to extend his regeneration cycle.

The first episode is called Smith and Jones, isn't it? Why does that sound so familiar even within Doctor Who?

I hope we get to see more alien worlds this season. The only ones we've seen so far are the Forbidden Planet and New Earth (which I don't really count tbh).
Hopefully the Daleks will be back as full time villains like in the classic doctor who and become a mor e perminant threat.

From what I've seen and read, the Daleks usually show up then vanish for ages at a time. None of this "Mwahahaha we're the final boss every time!" stuff that's been going on. 'course I could be wrong. But I myself would like a season of Who that lacks the Daleks. And a "buzz word" for that matter. No more.

Even though the Daleks just showed up and went during the classic series at least they were actually still around as a threat to come back again. Every time they've appeared in the new show has been some l"last" survivor or ressurection. For once i'd like them to come back, and be defeated but not destryoed. So they can still come back as a manical exterminating army without the need of a plot device.

The Daleks are meant to get exterminated (Hm. How ironic. )each time they come back; its what makes them so bloody unbeatable. It's what they 'do', if you like. You wipe out every last one and then about two years later "Oh smeg, here come about a hundred more".
Of course you don't need hundreds of Daleks in each appearance. About twenty would suffice, I'd say. Hell, I would've been happy with those four in Doomsday, as opposed to the utter fank-[censored] of an entire army.

This series has Captain Jack in it again, and that means we can enjoy his character without having to watch Torchwood.
Therefore it is utterly [censored]ing fantastic.

Just wondering about the time and place that the Doctor will meet Jack in this series. Will the TARDIS wind up in Cardiff again? Or has Jack somehow gotten hold of another time travel device and ends up on some nightmare planet that not even the Daleks would go near? Oh, the possibilities.

I haven't watched the end of Torchwood (or in fact any episode past number 3, since I gave up bothering with it) but apparently the TARDIS is heard at the end.

Ah, I remember now. The Doctor frequently uses the alias of Dr. Smith. The first companion of the Eighth Doctor (the film excluded) was named Samantha Jones, which explains the familiarity.
She dies, but you only see her grave in The Gallifrey Chronicles.

Not sure about Jones, but we had Mickey Smith, and Sarah-Jane Smith. Harriet Jones, MP for Flydale North.
