I have heard tell that Crossroads of Twilight is actually the worst in the series.

I can see how some people say that. Basically, a cataclysmic event happens at the very end of book 9, and the whole of book 10 is concerned with the aftermath, each few chapters dealing with a different person's narrative - so some people said "nothing happens in the whole book". Lots does in fact happen, but just not as many world-[censored]tering events as in each of the other books, because it has to deal with a LOT of narratives, and so not very much time passes. It's still a damn good one, and does set up what I've read of book 11 very well.

Finished Norweigan Wood: phenomenal book and I recommend it to all and sundry. Currently re-reading Stephen King's The Stand and trying very hard not to think too much about bird flu.

Samface has far too much reading time, or else reads far too fast. Freak! I'm starting Phantom by Terry Goodkind, finally. Now I can get me some good ol' Ayn Randian propaganda, I've been feeling too left wing recently

Just started to read the Lord of the Rings trilogy since I discovered my local library actually has books! Even the prologue's hella interesting so I anticipate a good read. Heh, I said 'hella'...

Of Fire and Night. The fifth, and latest, book in an ongoing septology I'm reading.
I'm literally giddy.

Richard Laymon's Funhouse.
Half the book is a very disturbing and shockingly vicious story of one of the main point-of-view protaganists slowly & believably descending into true evil and then being let loose on one of the other main protags.
The other half has every single homeless person as members of a weirdo blood-sports mass murdering cult and has a spider the size of a car that an evil showman rides while firing twin handguns.
The two halves clash worse than disco gear at a funeral.

I finished reading The Eye of the World at last (so odd a thing, to use the words 'at last' when I describe what I'm reading) and have started The Great Hunt.

I am currently progressing at a steady pace through The Wheel of Time book three, The Dragon Reborn, and I must say it's better than the first two so far.
However, I am at a loss for what to do when I finish this one. I am getting the fourth and fifth books, The Shadow Rising and The Fires of Heaven for Christmas. If I can make this book last until my birthday (16th December) I can read New Spring, the prequel novel, I suppose.
I also plan to read The Curse of Salamander Street (sequel to Shadowmancer) when I find the time.

I'm currently reading my way through the 9/10th Doctor novels. In no real order. They're good.

They are indeed.
In nine days (on my birthday) I hope to get Hannibal Rising. It looks quite good.

Man I need to read that sometime. Still ploughing through The Stand. It's a big book! And I'm easily distracted!

The Stand pwns all other Stephen King books, except maybe the last few chapters of IT. Big problem with King is he insists on giving you pointless backstory.
Currently re-reading Guards Guards. Coolest cops verses dragon story EVER.
